Also from what I've read GTA V runs amazing and correctly the same performance levels as you'd expect them to run.

290x resting somewhere between 780 and 980. Stock of course.

GTA V uses as many gameworks features as Watch Dogs did.

Watch Dogs only had txaa and hbao+ for gameworks features.

And I'm really curious as to what you mean exactly by completely gameworks.

Is AMD or the dev given the Gameworks tech papers to optimize for hairworks, like with TressFX which is open source?

Is the game Dev given the Kepler/maxwell tech papers to know the differences between those 2 uarchs and GCN, which is well documented, so they can adjust the game engine code to work best with both vendors, and not rely on black boxes like Gameworks?

Would Gameworks be needed if game devs would be able to optimize for Kepler/Maxwell on their own with said (and missing) tech papers, and instead chose open source middlewares and optimize for both vendors?

ETC.

To close the absurd TressFX comparison, NV only underperformed when those kind of effects were active in the very first days of TR's launch. And even then when NV could optimize for it as it is OPEN SOURCE CODE (unlike GW), Kepler could still have some disadvantage when it was enabled and Kepler cards could take a bigger perf hit because the inherent lack of computing capabilities compared to GCN. This is inherent to the hardware, just like the lack of geometry perf AMD lacked till GCN 1.2 (but without the retarded abuse of the feature from the other camp in their sponsored game, like NV did with tesselation in Crysis 2, AND with the difference that you can disable TressFX, unlike some concrete walls with over 1mill polygons I have seen in Crysis 2).

Nvidia shoving gameworks into the game devs have come to the point that the 2015 games that have shipped with it are either:

- Totally FUBAR if the dev was already sloppy making the game code (AC:U and probably most of the Ubi games with GW)

- Works okay, but certain graphics elements or physics calculation ruin the performance of anything besides Maxwell.

Gameworks is Tier 0 all over again but disguised with marketing and the innherent difficulting comprenhending how game engines and game developing works for the uninformed. Even the average Joe could see how BS was the Tier 0 program as it is basically bribing PC builders into not using AMD hardware in their lineup. Not so easy this time with Gameworks, tho (the green loyalist which are mostly uninformed posters too dont make this any easier either).

NV users blaming AMD for their cards not performing as well as they should doesnt surprise me. What totally baffles me is the absolute lack of comradery of the Maxwell users with their fellow NV users that still use Kepler cards. Because GW is both bombing Kepler and GCN. This only shows that hardware enthusiasts are basically selfish and only care for their butt and nothing else. To hell everyone that wont buy NV's latest and greatest, right guys?

If you were to say this 15 years ago I would be lighting the torch and sharpening the pitchforks but please.... about todays games? you are way too late

The not so good news however is that if you’re an owner of a GeForce GTX 700 series card you will need to turn the settings considerably down to attain playable framerates. Because unfortunately just as I had mentioned at the beginning of the article. A GeForce GTX Titan only manages an average of 30 FPS, which is really just one FPS ahead of the R9 285. In fact all Nvidia Kepler GPUs ( 600 series and 700 series ) show almost catastrophically poor performance. If you look at the GTX 660 for example, which is a card that competes with AMD’s R9 270, it’s nearly performing at half the rate of the slightly faster R9 270X with a 13.6 FPS average compared to the 24.2 FPS average of the 270X.

http://wccftech.com/witcher-3-initial-benchmarks/

Well so much for that. And I can attest to the GTX Titan only being able to muster 30 fps at ultra settings which lead me to that article. Funny the game detected my hardware and maxed everything yet I'm getting dips into the mid-low 20s very occasionally. Hairworks take a huge chunk out of the framerate as well.

I think people just see GameWorks features in a game and automatically jump on the anti-Nvidia bandwagon out of ignorance.
