I don't remember making the claim that nVidia was perfect. I remember making the claim on titles where AMD is blaming GameWorks as the reason for performance issues the Developers spoke out and said AMD dropped the ball. When was the last time you heard AMD taking responsibility for their performance in games publicly. Lately, last year or so, it's been all about either Mantle driving their focus, which means DX11 was neglected, or that GameWorks/nVidia are responsbile for their performance issues.
I am all for AMD pushing their own API / TressFX or similar software ecosystem. I don't care if the splash screen is green or red. Just as long as the game works. Sadly that isn't the case when it's RED or GREEN for team RED.

Nope. They can make as many API's, architectures, middlewares and ecosystems as they want, until they're sick of counting them for all I care, as long as they all coexist. Enough of this garbage with saying "Well, this one works best with this and when you're using this it's even better and that one uses the other one only and if you've got this piece the other one over there sometimes fits and sometimes doesn't, figure it out as you go.

Stop. That. Crap.

AMD and Nvidia are both trying to wall us off into separate hardware-locked ecosystems and it's disgusting. Freesync, G-sync, Mantle, Hairworks, PhysX, on and on and on....

If I wanted to play video games in a walled garden I'd buy a damn Mac and be done with it.

I am not getting at what solution you are providing?

What is nVidia's responsibility in all this? Stop making/using GameWorks? Stop investing in game development with time and sending engineers for developers to get the most out of nVidia hardware?

This really sucks, essentially forcing me to get nvidia next time around if i want a decent gaming experience. Except oh wait, i can't! because their multimonitor / surround thing is quite bad.

Well the problem is even with the GameWorks crap disabled, the game will probably STILL run terrible on AMD. We have already seen this in Far Cry 4 and also more recently in Project Cars.

Well, AMD does have a competitor - they have TressFX and it came out waayy back in 2013. Only game that ever used it (that i know of) is Tomb Raider 2013.

Solution? G-sync shouldn't be Nvidia only. Freesync shouldn't be AMD only. Mantle should have never been AMD only, Hairworks shouldn't cripple AMD hardware. These companies don't have to lock down their technology solutions to profit off of them, they're simply locking them down to be anti-competitive.

If DX12 truly, HONESTLY allows us to use GPU from both manufacturers, that'll be the end of this B.S. anyways. And before everyone goes off saying "If the developers enable it" that's not what was implied. When it was spoken about, it was implied that whichever GPU wasn't your main would just be slaved to the main GPU and used for raw processing power through DX12, not through anything that that game developers had to handle personally.

I really hope they follow through with that. I'd love to pick up a 970 and just swap my monitor inputs whenever I come across gameworks or swap it back whenever I come across an AMD optimized game.

If a game that supposedly runs badly on AMD because of Gameworks still runs poorly after gameworks has been disabled you should probably consider the possibility that it wasn't gameworks harming the performance in the first place...

Well wasn't the issue with project cars that the devs had bassically done no optimization on the game at all for AMD? And AMD wasn't even able to make a driver for the game in the first place. There still isn't and updated beta for it.

I support what Ganf has been saying.

In the end, AMD and NVidia, are fracturing the PC community. Soon it will be like the fracture we have with MS/Sony consoles.

PC is about choosing what components you want and being able to play your games unhindered.

If I wanted a fractured platform, I would play on the console.

Get it together, or they will either both lose in the end or we will get AMD or NVidia as the emerging winner and then we'll all lose.

If I wanted a fractured platform, I would play on the console.
