It's the 4th time you're saying that today alone, and you're saying it because of a problem that doesn't actually exist.

Well, i hope you enjoy console gaming.

Solution? G-sync shouldn't be Nvidia only. Freesync shouldn't be AMD only. Mantle should have never been AMD only, Hairworks shouldn't cripple AMD hardware. These companies don't have to lock down their technology solutions to profit off of them, they're simply locking them down to be anti-competitive.

If DX12 truly, HONESTLY allows us to use GPU from both manufacturers, that'll be the end of this B.S. anyways. And before everyone goes off saying "If the developers enable it" that's not what was implied. When it was spoken about, it was implied that whichever GPU wasn't your main would just be slaved to the main GPU and used for raw processing power through DX12, not through anything that that game developers had to handle personally.

I really hope they follow through with that. I'd love to pick up a 970 and just swap my monitor inputs whenever I come across gameworks or swap it back whenever I come across an AMD optimized game.

Why should nVidia make something that another company benefits from? Why should nVidia "give" AMD GSYNC or GameWorks?

nvidia is paying devs to use gameworks, and so if they use gameworks they do 0 optimization for AMD stuff, AMD has 0 access to the code so no drivers for the game, etc. So yes basically they are forcing you to get nvidia to play the game properly. Nevermind the gameworks features, the game will run like crap on AMD. We've seen this on project cars and far cry 4

Proof.

Also here is SMS's statement on AMD and ProjectCARS:
Quote:
As Ian Bell wrote on the WMD forum when a fan asked him about the performance issues that AMD owners currently face:

“We’ve provided AMD with 20 keys for game testing as they work on the driver side. But you only have to look at the lesser hardware in the consoles to see how optimized we are on AMD based chips.

We’re reaching out to AMD with all of our efforts. We’ve provided them 20 keys as I say. They were invited to work with us for years, looking through company mails the last I can see they (AMD) talked to us was October of last year.

Categorically, Nvidia have not paid us a penny. They have though been very forthcoming with support and co-marketing work at their instigation. We’ve had emails back and forth with them yesterday also. I reiterate that this is mainly a driver issue but we’ll obviously do anything we can from our side.”

AMD’s Corporate Vice President IPG, Roy Taylor, afterwards revealed that AMD is currently working with Slightly Mad Studios in order to fix these performance issues.

I have a feeling Microsoft is getting tired of having to cater to both camps' whimsical fancies of self importance also which is why we've been hearing about all of this stuff that homogenizes the differences between hardware coming in DX12. Not only that, but I haven't heard much coming from Vulkan in that regard, so they probably see this as a way to give DX12 a huge leg over the competition while making their own job easier. Whenever AMD or Nvidia either one tries to shoehorn in some proprietary crap and ask Microsoft to support it in DX12 Microsoft will have the option to just ignore it and tell them it isn't happening until it's open to all architectures.

Microsoft is on a specialized AMD platform now and they're going to integrate elements of DX12 into the XB1. They'd be stupid to NOT homogenize the hardware differences at this stage because between PC, PS4 and XB1 they're at the bottom of the pile. If this sectioning off of corners of the market keeps happening Microsoft's platform is going to be the first one to get left out in the cold.

Do what we always do when we help people with our technical knowledge?

Which i5 are you using?
What frequency is it if it's overclocked?
Did you stress test it?
Does your memory have an overclock?
What OS are you running?
Which driver version are you using?
Did you perform a clean install of your drivers?
What game version are you using?
A screenshot of proof?
A screenshot of CPU usage?
A screenshot of in game CPU with OSD?
In this case, which version of PhysX are you using?
Did you try re-installing the drivers?
Do you have all four cores enabled?

I have seen that post, quoted an unbelievable number of times, people just accept it like it isn't a troll, a fanboy, or somebody found someone on the STEAM forums with no technical knowledge... hard to believe.

It's funny you say all of that, because DirectX 12 is proprietary software and it isn't free for AMD or nVidia to use.

It isn't free, but at least Microsoft isn't taking kickbacks to implement AMD's features over Nvidia's, or to gimp AMD's performance because Nvidia has some big sponsored releases coming up.

When that starts happening then we can bring out the pitchforks again and talk about moving over to Vulkan.

I'd like to know why people still use Mantle and TressFX as "examples" of AMD doing the same thing.

Did Mantle ever prevent Nvidia from optimizing? Did it ever harm them at all?

TressFX in Tomb Raider was shown to be a Nvidia driver issue as well as slower GPU computing performance. It wasn't gimped or anything by AMD...their hardware at the time was just better suited for that sort of thing.

So why, exactly, are these two things some how a negative for AMD and/or comparable to GameWorks being closed source?

No doubt it's difficult - don't rip me out of context - though there are developers/engineers in the gaming field who made massive achievements themselves (granted in a lesser convoluted environment) otherwise the pre-existing physics of past games wouldn't exist.
