[VC] AMD’s Hawaii GPU to return with Radeon 300 series - Page 2

8GB on a 290 is stupid.
38x is a rebrand? RIP AMD. Especially that they don't want to be known as a cheaper solution and the 390 will cost probably around 800$

384GB/s bandwidth not 384bit memory controller. Raise the memory clocks on hawaii chips and you go from the previous 320GB/s to 384GB/s.

Using VSR and going 1440p without MSAA ,I see about 3500MB VRAM usage in GTA V with my 290X. 8 gigs will ensure these cards will run out of punch before they run out of VRAM.

What I'd like to see is a reworked Hawaii with Tonga's improved tessellation and memory compression, although this last bit is optional because of the sheer bandwidth it will purportedly come with.

Without the improved tessellation we will once again have at least one notable hole in the lineup feature wise. Tonga has it, then Hawaii doesn't, then Fiji has it again. You shouldn't have to make compromises like this.

Ideally they should have taken Hawaii out and made a larger Tonga to fill in the same performance segment. That would give them three chips in a row with feature parity.
