Needing a single slot Flex-Bay solution for mounting SSD because 36 Flex-Bay slots isn't enough.

Yes, it's a First World problem I know. rolleyes.gif

Go figure. I've used all but 1 of the 36 Flex-Bay slots in my TX10-D. wth.gif

Don't ask... just accept it.whistle.gif

So, short of purchasing the $60 MAC-202 "HDD Side mount Bracket" just to mount a couple more SSDs... Is there a good CaseLabs solution?

I know there are aftermarket single slot options but most of the quality ones will cost me as much as the MAC-202 bracket. and I'll still need to get another MAC-125 "Flex-Bay 5.25 Device Mount - Standard" kit just to mount it.

I've Band-Aided the problem with kludging together a MAC-151 "Flex-Bay 3.5" Bay Device Adapter" with a MAC-322 "2.5" HDD/SSD Mounting Kit" that I had laying around, but that's leaving a gaping 3.5" hole in the front of the slot.

If I can't find a solution more economical than the MAC-202 bracket I'll just have to get one. And then have room for an additional 38 SSDs biggrin.gif

Secondary questions just for future reference:
Will the HDD cage from the included MAC-102 "HDD Cage Assy Flex-Bay" fit the MAC-202 "HDD Side mount bracket" if needed?

Thanks for any Ideas that would be helpful. smile.gif

idea:

1) Take a single-bay solid cover and remove the threaded inserts.

2) install these to the case stacked with a set of 5.25" device mounts.

3) find an aftermarket adaptor to install HDD or SSD into standard 5.25" bays, like this one.

You may or may not need to remove the O-rings for the mounting stud for these to fit together tightly; sorry haven't tried this myself yet. The inserts I believe can be removed using pliers without too much difficulty.

If you get a 5.25 to 3.5 adapter, you can use your Caselabs SSD mounting kit and have space for 2 drives. If you get 2.5 to 5.25 like the one I found, you might only have space for one. Hopefully you have the mounts & faceplate already and not in use thumb.gif

Not a bad idea if I can get the inserts removed. I have numerous single slot covers, both ventilated and solid, since I'm using all my slots. biggrin.gif

+Rep to you Sir! thumb.gif

If anyone else has any other solutions I'd like to hear them as well. Maybe someone else can benefit from this too. I can't be the only one in this predicament can I? smile.gif

I can't find it, but do remember a post about removing these; think it might have been @Kevin_CL that they come out rather quickly just grabbing with pliers and twisting/rocking them? Maybe send him a PM - I'm sure it's not that hard to do.
