Here they might could have done it, although the backlash would be bigger then now with the downgrade i assume.

Is it really that hard to comprehend that people might not play for graphics?

I would play it if it was a text advantage.

Well i sorta did already since i read the books and was not complaining about the graphics in those tongue.gif
I can understand that a game can be played just for the story. But The Witcher has always been a game that pushed graphics features and required a beefy PC to run, The Witcher has always been that game that offered stunning visuals in an open world scenario. I am sure most of us expected awesome graphics along with a great story line. The fact that the game has been clearly dumbed down can't be covered by simply saying "oh well, I was just going to play it for the story". it is simply not true. I wanted a The Witcher game with great story AND awesome graphics.

not trolling but even at ultra the game is ugly i only hope that the story was not downgraded too.

If you have played TW2, it is strikingly DX9 with all that silver bloom everywhere, trademark of an era.

Sorry but no, The Witcher 2 had amazing graphics for its time.
But The Witcher?

This even by 2007 standards is not a graphical intense game. You are talking about a year the abnormality known as Crysis popped up.

Also, there was no open world in the previous witcher games. You had a playground sure but nothing close to be considered open world.

I dont even mind the graphical downgrade as much as the total change in color and style. Now it looks all cartoony and oversaturated. Before it was sort of darker and much more real looking. Oh well, won't buy it.

I agree. Downgrade aside, the choice to saturate the colors makes the game look like disneyland. Another member said it resembled Wonderland. Isnt the story of TW supposed to be dark? The tone is all wrong imo. Is Geralt trying to find mickey mouse?!

Witcher is never "dark". It's always different shades of grey since they make their world so there is no black and white.
Even the big villain from the first and second games are not inherntly evil.

And what is wrong with some colors? Go play brown fps 96554654 if you want dark and gritty.
This is still set in a fantasy world with dragons, monsters and magic.

I don't see how this is oversaturated.

Except the 8:30 part it looks completely fine to me.

Then again, i always preferred vibrant colors over desaturation.

Just a preference i guess.

So is this going to be the new trend? Amazing preview videos and gameplay, then nerfed graphics on launch. Sure sounds a lot like Watch dogs and AC: Unity. So... how long until this game drops down in price to $20? I'd say by August.

Never been much of a Witcher fan, I mean I never played it. But make it cheap enough, it'll be worth the shot!
