ShellFu's New Build: working name "Uranium 235"

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter
Hey all,

I have been a lurker for sometime, and decided since I am building a new PC with inspiration from some of the very stunning machines I've looked at over the years, that is may be time to show what I myself am putting together.

I got the bug to build a new system when I started to have some issues with running some games on my new monitor. lg-34UC97-S

I haven't upgraded this particular workstation since 2008, so this is really a new build, as no components from it will be used. Since I was building a brand new machine, and I really was in need of a new desk chair, I went ahead and bought a new desk as well.

Let's start with what I have, and what I am planning. Then I would welcome some feedback and suggestions as not every piece of the build has been decided on yet.

Overall Color Scheme: Black, White, UV Green

Desk: Obutto R3volution Cockpit w/ All Accessories => Purchased
I went with an Obutto R3volution Cockpit with all Accessories. I have been using this cockpit for about 2months, and couldnt be happier. I use this desk not only for gaming, but my day-to-day job as well. This honestly has relieved a lot of back pain I usually have felt after long hours behind the keyboard.

Case: Carbide Air 540 from Corsair => Purchased
So I initially bought this case, but am quickly realizing I may need more room, and will more than likely grab a CaseLabs in the near future. They do seem to have quite a long processing time, and will get that order in here pretty quick, but for now the Carbide is what I will be using.

Power Supply: Corsair RM1000 => Purchased

Processor: i7-4790k => Purchased

Memory: Undecided, am leaning toward Dominator or Vengence Pro. In either case it will be 32GB

Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth z97 Mark S => Purchased

OS Drive: Intel 730 240GB SSD => Purchased

Game Drive: X2 Crucial 512GB SSD RAID0 => Purchased
I do not care about data loss on games, so RAID0 will work well here.

General Storage: X3 WD Black 1TB HDD 7200RPM RAID5
RAID 5 on these should be enough to give me speed and reliability for general storage

GPU: EVGA GeForce Titan Superclocked 12GB
I want something that can run my monitor @ full res on games. I may get two of these. That will depend on the performance of the single card.

Monitor: LG 34UC97-S 34" 21:9 UltraWide => Purchased[

Cooling: Custom Water Loop
Still in the planning phases of this, but I am getting it worked out with mostly EK Products and a Reaction Res

Peripherals:
Logitech Orion Spark Mechanical Keyboard => Purchased
Saitek X55 Rhino HOTAS => Purchased
Buttkicker Simulation Kit => Purchased

Anyways this is where I am at. I plan on doing custom sleeving on all the cables as well. I have a 3D Printer, and will make use of it for my modding efforts, and am designing a better HDD mount for the Carbide until I place an order for a CaseLabs.

Thanks for reading guys.
