Slight algae build up in tubing but not in components

Today I tore down my loop for a gpu trade I'm making. I cleaned the block and it was only slightly dirty. My reservoir is clean as well. However I noticed a slight green film in all my tubing. I use a kill coil and it's looking good too.

This is my first loop. It's about three months old.

What coolant are you using, just water? Can you post pics? I haven't dealt with algae but it would be odd for it to be in tubing only and nowhere else.

Just distilled water. I threw away all the tubing. For the last month the water had a very slight haze to it. From what I've seen my compression fittings are clean too.

It might be something related to plasticizer. If blocks/fittings are OK, then I wouldnt really care. Just use some kind of biocide and inhibitor next time.

So a kill coil isn't enough?

There are just better things. Im not sure what was in your loop, though.

Yes, it is. You didn't have algae, it was plasticizer.

Everyone's first thought when they see discoloration is algae, but it never is. Algae is extremely rare, I think in the four-plus years I've been a member of OCN there have only been one or two confirmed cases of actual biological growth in someone's loop, and none where someone used biocide or a kill coil.

No, I had primochill tubing. It is cheap and I bought it per foot from performance-pcs. It could of been plasticizer. This is my first loop so I'm still learning as I go.
