There is absolutely nothing wrong with running a PSU at 90-100% load when it is a quality power supply. They are built to do that. Only the junk ones are built to run at half or less than half capacity.
^ Agreed. Amplifiers, power tools, engines, etc. all follow the same guide lines.

Even if you were F@H it would be fine.

750w is 6.25 amps @ 120 volts.
My 1500w heater can heat my apartment set at 700w

It's alot of power when you look at it like that.

Well that's true. There is nothing wrong with a xeon for gaming.

However there is a problem using a xeon for this type of a build, when the guy does not need hyperthreading.

If you really wanted to push the savings factor, then you should have gone with an i5 4560.

doubleposting..

The correct answer is yes, but the right answer is no.

They handle the power a little bit nicer at all clock speeds, but the intent is for higher overclocking.

It would be nice to see it on xeon chips because they should be able to run at lower voltages then or at higher clock speeds to keep up with the devil canyon chips.

like the OP I'm going to get a unlocked CPU (4790k) and chances are won't OC it I really won't need to all I play is World of Warcraft and while it is CPU heavy it mainly uses 2 cores at the most. I could easily go with a i3 and have hyperthreading and run just fine but getting the 4790k I'll have 2 extra cores, Hyperthreading and a starting point of 4.0mhz with a Max Turbo of 4.40mhz with out the need to OC and should give me great FPS in WoW. Plus I look at it like this you never know what new MMO or any game that comes out I might like and knowing I have the power under the Hood makes it well worth spending the $ on a unlocked CPU.

I get that World of Warcraft likes having a nice CPU, but it's a tad silly to buy one of the most expensive LGA1150 CPU available for a game that sees no appreciable difference in performance from an i3 to an i5 to an i7. At stock clocks, I highly doubt you would even notice the difference between the locked and unlocked versions of the i7-4790. And that 4.4GHz turbo is on one core, not all four. Honestly no one really needs to overclock, but you buy an unlocked processor specifically for that purpose. It's the whole "bang for your buck" philosophy. It would be like having a Titan X and playing games at 1080p and low settings.

I also play WoW, and would love a rig that can beast it at max settings, especially with the new graphical features they've added recently.

I'm also going to play The Witcher 3 and FFXIV, and I'm pretty sure my build will handle them both phenomenally well.

EDIT: I've also updated the build to include 2 8gb kits. Figured having 16gb will be better in the long run, and for only $60 more it's a no brainer.

$1300~ for a pretty solid rig is a great deal.
