[WFFC]Nvidia Responds To Witcher 3 GameWorks Controversy, PC Gamers On The Offensive - Page 7

I'm confused. Apart from the game having gameworks what exactly hurt AMD? The game performs great with their cards.. It runs terribly if you turn on the gamework options if you are on recent Nvidia cards as well. I guess Nvidia users get a couple special graphical options that make the game run terribly no matter what side you run albeit slightly less terribly on Nvidia. I don't know what is more pathetic. The pointless gamework bashing or the visual downgrade controversy. Meanwhile, the game is absolutely amazing.

Maybe you should understand what API means, NVIDIA needs much more than that, they need a way to influence an API not get a published API and implement it. Vulkan is exactly that a collaboration of many companies on what this API should be. It is just funny how AMD fanboys claim that Vulkan is Mantle. Life is a little more complicated than that.

What we truly need is an independent body that sets hardware and software standards. For example they could verify things like middle-ware will do no harm against the competition, establishes video game quality standards both in image quality and engine performance, prevents the release of broken products, and has the power to penalize each company that breaks the rules or at least discloses it to the public transparently.

There's a difference between protecting your intellectual property and saying "If you want to use our monitor tech, you've got to use our video cards." or "If you want physics, you can either buy our video cards or play at 30fps."

Proprietary SYSTEMS, not proprietary products. I value my freedom of choice. So does the rest of the PC world outside of gaming. How many office software packages do you have that can only use one file type, and why has that changed since the 90's?

Yep... Gaming is going backwards, not forward. This crap needs to stop.

hehe, from three posts in this thread you label him an "AMD fanboy" and in the same post don't understand what you are posting about either. Chrono order:

- AMD creates Mantle
- Nvidia does not adopt Mantle.
- Developers adopt Mantle.
- AMD wants Mantle to be an industry standard.
- Nearly all of Mantle is incorporated into DX12
- AMD tells developers to stop supporting Mantle because it will be in upcoming DX12 and they don't want competing standards that do the same thing
- Nearly all of Mantle is rolled into Vulkan, hoping to be the new standard for OpenGL

I know you dont like me for some reason but why are you quoting me on that? I never said those things, Dmitriy did. So dont slap my name on something I didnt say. Further, you seem to be replacing some company names there and getting your facts switched around on that list.

Actually just a quoting mistake from it saving drafts from earlier. Not sure why you don't think I like you. I don't know anything about you. I don't see anything wrong with that list I made. If you do, feel free to correct it.

So, everyone here is upset at nVidia for anticompetitive practices because Witcher 3 runs better on AMD?

I'm fairly sure most of the incompetence falls on CDPR... it was a lousy, unoptimized console port to PC, that's nobody's fault but CDPR.

No remapping keybindings... check.
Lousy mouse + keyboard support... check.

lol... ocn... you silly. For a minute I thought I was on reddit or 4chan. tongue.gif

Ha, even reading what you wrote and then my post several times over, I kept missing. I guess I had the AMD/Nvidia going backa nd forth in my head and when I kept re-reading it, I would gloss over Nvidia and see the M in Mantle and think Microsoft for the first part of that sentence. Either way, substance of my post to the other user is the same and does not change. I could of put North Korea in their instead of Microsoft and it still conveys what I was trying to say.

Thanks though! Gonna go change that.

That's the problem with these stupid proprietary solutions, even if you stick with nVidia, one day they'll just drop it and make you buy new hardware. This crap ultimately hurts no one but gamers themselves. It's already bad enough we're locked in DirectX.

Like Glide or EAX, this junk will die one day, it won't be supported any more, and its functionality will probably be lost because I doubt they'll release the source code.
