[FUD] AMD Fiji aims at $849 retail price - Page 2

Doing Xfire then and waiting 2 gen cycle. Card makers want to be greedy, i can wait. Spending too much cash to play console ports.

So I'm guessing GTX980 Ti will undercut $850.

It's true for US, other countries are in much worse situation...
The full price of 970 in cheapest shop in my country (Cheapest GPU versions) comes to slightly more than $500...
It's usually US price +50%...

But OMG are they completely mad? Or is this the thing that their CEO spoke? Not being "that cheap brand"...

If it's faster then Titan X $850 is fine. The cool thing is you dont have to buy it.

To be honest, that is just a little lower than I first was guessing the price would be. Still way to high IMO, but better than I first guessed.

But we'll wait to see exactly what the real price is.

My memory could be off, but a few years ago neither AMD nor Nvidia where building these monolithic chips. I think the hike in prices are because the two are constantly trying to out do each other, in the post Moore's law years where fabrication can't keep up.

HBM or not. If I don't get any value from the new ram (increased peformance in gaming) then I don't care how expensive it is for AMD.

Honestly I want to see increased performance for the same money as time goes by. What do I have from a card that cost 3 times as much as 290X but doesn't even perform twice as good ? headscratch.gif

I really don't get the increase of GPU prices. We are still on 28nm and I want more performance for 500$ - 600$ depending on the design or no buy. frown.gif

^this.

If there was a Logic Rep+ option, you'd get one.

It seems like both sides are pushing the price limits. Every recent debut of top tier cards from both sides ( excluding dual gpu's) have quickly sold out. Those demands dont seem to wane for each launch. If gamers are willing to pay these prices both companies are going to keep increasing the launch price every cycle.

How about trying to gain back some marketshare first before releasing a card with sky high prices that nobody will buy anyways because they are happy with Nvidia. Sometimes i wonder what they are doing over at AMD hq.....

Release card with awesome price point to lure some of the NV people over to the red side to show them most of the stuff they read on forums about AMD isn't true. Next time think about raising the prices abit.

Maybe I'll just wait for the 980 price to drop, or just quit playing games...
