[FUD] AMD Fiji aims at $849 retail price - Page 23

I'll buy the 390x liquid cooled for $800 max, $650 otherwise max, and $500 max on r9 390.

other than that I will just wait for a price drop or just be content with my 290x for several more years, which honestly i should be anyway, lulz

There's a YouTube vid called: Handicapping AMD's Fiji GPU with David Kanter.

Maybe it's just me, but when they started talking about the 4GB limit, David made it sound like it will have 8GB. He kept getting interrupted so i don't know. We'll see i guess. I really want an 8GB card, 12 just seems like a waste and i don't want to wait another 3-6 months for a 980Ti..

Exactly, all this high end hardware that can't be put to it's full potential.

Virtual Reality!!

Sorry, it's late... but seriously, VR needs all that power plus some. Even with foveated rendering, bring on the ray-tracing....

The later leaks and the phone conversation with AMD's CTO, Joe Macri, sure sound convincing for the 4GB argument, but I definitely saw what you meant about video with David Kanter. David seems to get a lot of inside info and has a good track record on his CPU predictions, but I would still bet on the first Fiji having 4GB HBM. Besides, I can see how a lot of the GPU RAM usage is non-optimal (and how bandwidth is by far the bigger bottleneck) and I'm not even a game developer. I am in software development though...

I haven't upgraded from my two "ancient" 290X's in far too long, so I'm going to grab two of whatever the best option ends up being. So far, my guess is the $850 Fiji. I've been so anxious to upgrade that I've been watching this forum thread far too much...

eh? I have gammed at 1440p for over two years now on an overclocked monitor at 110 frames, my 290x struggles and in most modern games can not reach that. I need more oomph, and yes games at 110 fps especially shooters, hell, even witcher 3 im pumping out 70 fps, just feels smoother to me.

Play a shooter at 110hz 110 frames for 1 hour, then go play on 60hz 60 fps system.... you will bang your head against the wall and sell everything you own to buy a nice setup thumb.gif

Unless AMD solves the issues of low software support (even if it's gameworks related issues) they can't call on a premium and HALO products.

It's not just the hardware (AMDs hardware is excellent) but also the software part.

P.S. Still waiting for crossfire support for the witcher... and I have 4x290x cards installed. What ya think AMD? do ya think I will buy 3x390x with this level support?
