Unless the new drivers are what is allowing Gameworks features to be implemented for those cards. If older drivers don't support new Gameworks features (that are designed/optimized for Maxwell) you may very well see those kinds of improvements, just like you see by turning down tessellation in CCC. But that is going to lead to some kind of visual tradeoff - the real question is what, and how much it matters.. If that turns out to be a way to disable Gameworks for very little visual loss, it could be quite useful.
