Is an upgrade worth it?

I haven't really been keeping up with PC gaming much, kind of fell out of the scene. I currently have a:
i7 4770k
GTX 670 ftw

I want to play the witcher, really loved the first two. I was thinking about upgrading to a 970gtx since they are decently priced and come with the game for free. I play the games on my TV with a controller so it's run at 1080p. Would it even be worth the upgrade? Will I have any bottleneck issues?
I could just get the game on ps4 but I really love stable 60fps.
Anyone's opionions would be great!

I have seen the cards going for around 320$ after rebates which seems reasonable. I have heard about coil whine specifically on the 970s though

Yeah, mine has a little coil whine, but its only really noticeable when running at extremely high fps (500+) and even then the case blocks most of the sound from it. I only ever really notice it when i dont have headphones on and the side panel is off. Using the MSI 970 btw

Some models have more coil whine then others I think. Honestly - just keep your receipt, and the original box in good condition. The ASUS Strix and MSI cards can have coil whine (and are otherwise the quietest ones on the market), and you can RMA them if it's a problem. I think a 970 would be a great upgrade from a 670.

There are all kinds of 970 threads about the 3.5gb usable and the fact that newer games are already using 4gb and more.

Go with a 290 or 980 if you must upgrade.

But a 670 should do ok for a bit longer if you want to wait for AMD 390 or Nvidia 980ti

You should just wait for next gen nvdia card. I think your FTW edition 670 will do just fine for witcher 3. Is it an upgrade? yes. Is it a big upgrade at 1080p? no.

^^ this if u going to stay with 1080p resolution dont see point of upgrading your current gtx 670. if decide to move up to 1440p resolution in future i am sure there will be far better gpu available then.
