As far as the price goes, I'm actually not too worried. If AMD is actually serious about charging $849 for this card AND it has only 4GB, then then the 390X MUST be significantly faster (at least 15%) than the Titan X, otherwise nobody would buy it, and they'll be forced to slash prices at some point. If this is supposed to be a halo card and they don't care if it doesn't sell, then I have to ask: what are they going to counter the 980 and 980 Ti with?

Nobody is going to buy it.

Bet your bottom dollar Nvidia already knows where Fiji benches out at, and that's why they pushed out the Titan X at the time they did and are holding onto the 980ti. They could've released the 980ti instead and held on to the Titan X to compete with Fiji, but that would've been a financial loss since the 980ti is enough to beat Fiji and they would've killed their own launch of the Titan X by already having it on the market.

Fiji is stillborn, and AMD is dead. The eulogy will be read on June 16 at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles.

I could be tuning my truck again as a hobby, or craftwork welding. I'm not supporting this garbage. Any GPU I buy from now on is going to be second-hand.

Yup, I stepped away from my auto hobby as it was a bit too pricey for my tastes after a while.. however the PC industry is unfortunately getting stale and just as pricey, except I'm getting less out of my money these days.

Buying used as well I think from this point on. Guess I'll pop the hood on my Jeep and see what the price of a 390x can do for me there instead

How about we save the drama till launch day?

Using common sense tells you this. There's no room for Fiji to be a 390X since they are using Hawaii as rebrands. Right now the 280X and 290X cover that gap, so obviously that will be perfectly fine to be a repeat.

To clarify for you:

So basically it will be the WCE (watercooled edition) of Fiji Titan Killer card for $800-850 then the Air cooled Fiji Titan Killer version of the card for $700-750 and then the 390X and 390 for $500 and $300 respectively and then the 380X for $250
Doubt it, they would get bought out by a larger company before that would happen.
the non X is a cut down version of the x, the most that amd can do is call 380X and 385 and let alone OEM models

If amd uses Hawaii rebrand can avoid the 2560 variant,

That 980ti sounds obsolete before it launches. Nobody in their right mind is going to buy into NV's scheme only to have their cards nerfed in less than a year. People are aware of how they intentionally cut their own customers off at the knees and make their 1 year old, $1000 cards practically worthless in 1 years time.

heh... so a card that is similar to the Titan in its "halo" status, and also similarly over-priced. Great rolleyes.gif

Yup, the amount of jerking around with this card, especially when it's the only new card in the entire line-up, is infuriating. How AMD hasn't gone under yet is beyond me.

I wonder what has happened over the past 5 years to drive down the price of AMD's shares on the market rolleyes.gif

lol I think you're confusing "unsubstantiated rumors" with "official statements". Honestly AMD has made very few official statements regarding the 390X. Hell we don't even know if it's actually going to be called that, so I don't think it's fair to AMD has been jerking around with the card.

Good you pointed that out now lol, I myself opened too many tabs off the main page without seeing where they are.
I hope this isn't the case, we can only keep waiting right rolleyes.gif
