display driver stopped responding and recovered after latest Nvidia update.

Hello

Is anyone having problems with driver stopped responding after latest nvidia update 352.86? i even restored the settings to default in EVGA PrecisionX i thought maybe this is happening because of the OC, and this problem happens when i play Witcher 3, I don't know if its from the game or the drivers now.

Thank you.

Yes I have the same problems. Tried reinstall using DDU and I still get crashes. From what I read from other forums the crashes are mostly caused by running google chrome or watching youtube. The new driver also made some games unplayable like X Plane which the developers said had to be updated because NVIDIA changed some shader settings.

I was crashing to desktop in GTA V, when using 3D TV Play. Reverted back to 350.12 and crashes gone.

Yep im having problems with new driver also. keeps crashing BFH

I started getting BSOD after updating with nvlddmkm.sys being the problem, just rolled back to 350.12. The strange part is gaming was fine, all crashes are surfing the internet.

I've been getting "Desktop Window Manager" failures because of it while trying to play witcher 3. I think a driver failure and recovery is triggering it but I don't get the driver error message in either the event viewer nor the system tray popup balloon.

The only other game I'v really played with this driver is KSP and I didn't have any issues there. I'll load up war thunder and run that for a bit and post back. I was running 344.75 for ages now and only updated to get SLI support because one 470 only gives me 12 fps on the setting level I'd prefer while tri-sli gives around 40. With the crashes happening every 30 or so minutes I'' likely have to wait for a more stable driver release.

I had a single crash while browsing from latest driver. Uninstalled MSI afterburner and reinstalled it, no issues since.

I thought my issue was precision x and switched to afterburner, no crash since rolling driver back. Im wondering if changing power mode to max instead of adaptive since Im not crashing in games would fix it???

Haven't had any issues in chrome yet. I'll give the afterburner trick a try and see what that does.

Update: So I tried reinstalling afterburner and that didn't do anything. I updated the game to version 1.03 and started getting crashes even sooner, maybe 2 minutes in max. So I uninstalled afterburner, booted into safemode and reinstalled the gfx driver and still no luck; game still crashes ~2 minutes in.

I'm going to try reverting to 344.75 and using nvidia inspector to force sli. I've seen that the far cry 3 profile works well for witcher 3, hopefully I can force SLI and get my 40 fps while not getting crashes.

Funny thing is, now I get the little balloon saying the driver failed and recovered and I was getting that before the game patch. As always, I'll post back with updates.
