Looking for a X99 dual socket c612 Motherboard

Thread Starter
Hey everybody.

I'm planning a super-mega-ultra-destroyerofworlds build for the near future. My problem is I can't find a good-looking dual socket X99 motherboard that supports the C612 chip set. I do have one in mind but it would require some painting, nothing major though. The Asus Z10PE-D8 WS is close, but it has gold on the heatsinks, and I need a black/white color scheme. Anything anyone can recommend helps, and remember, I like my motherboards black and white.

What exaclty are you building this for?

Also, you wont find much since dual socket boards tend to be for servers and heavy duty workstations. Customers that dont really care to much about looks. The last true enthusiest dual socket mobo was the EVGA SR2. That was a beast. But, since xeon chips have not been OC able since, the market has died.

I was planning on putting in two Xeon e5 2699's and some Titan X's. Overclocking doesn't matter much to me.

That is what you are planning, but what is it for? If it is for gaming, the second CPU is useless. Most, if any, wont even see the second CPU. Hell, nothing even sees any real improvement in the 8 core 5960x over the 6 core 5930k or 5820k clock for clock.

Now if it is for some form of content creation, you can take advantage of dual CPU rigs as long as the software in question supports it.

If you want to build a crazy monster gami g rig, just get a good X99 board, 5960x, and no more than three titan x cards. The fourth card tends to brake games. You will a lot of times get worse performance rather then better. Except in benchmarks. This is not very cost effective, but it does not sound like it is much of a worry since you are looking at pretty high level gear anyway.

Since he plans to load up on GPUs, those wont really cut it. Going to need something in XL-ATX Like the old SR2. Asus had a good dual socket last gen that supported up to four GPUs. Have not heard on an updated version.

Solid advice.

Of course you can go for the most extreme solutions and just throw money at it, but if you go about it like Prophet mentions, I think you'll get more bang for your buck and not have hardware not being used or used properly to your advantage.

This board has 3x x16 slots.

But one is running at x8, so all 3 gpus at x8. It would work great.

I must have looked at the wrong one. Looked like the spacing was single slot. the link you just posted obviously shows dual slot spacing. So, yeah that should work. Would still like clarification from OP on what the machine will be used for.

Same because it would be a massive overkill for almost anything. He's looking at 6k+ just for processors alone and a total of 10k just for the cpus, gpus, board and ram.
