2005 called, it wants its jaggies back.

If you really think it's blurry, apply the sharpening filter on top, you'll at least still get some use of the AA, particularly the temporal component.
The only thing I think the game is lacking is SSAA or downsampling (although drivers can do that). Combining super sampling with the ingame AA would result in a very good image.

I'll check that after work. Perhaps HW on at 1440p with a single 290X and reasonable quality and framerate is possible now.

Do AMD users not know that they should create custom profiles for specific games? Is this something new?

Yeah, I get that a user was able to figure out a custom profile and how to edit settings, so I guess he was clever? So nVidia should have properly informed ATI users that this ability already existed but nobody bothered trying using it on this or anything else in the past?

Pure silliness.

nVidia's secret coverup of pre-existing featuresets... everyone should file class action suits. lmao

I sense a hint of salt in your comment? It's like I can smell the ocean.

Nah, just responding to silly with silly.

Finding a beneficial feature in Catalyst Control and sneering it's because of the repression of evil nvidia is fairly comedic.

So I'm guessing this might work with any game using hairworks? If so the salt is on the AMD users who didn't figure this out more quickly. lol

Not sure if it would but even at that. CC is using tessellation not Nvidia's API. Still doesn't change the fact that Nvidia makes closed APIs
post #55 of 146

I proposed in an article I wrote that Hairworks, given that it uses tesselation, would run better when set to 4x or 8x samples, since that's a lot less taxing for AMD's architecture. I'm glad that other people reached the same conclusion that I did.

It does run smoother on 8x but 16x is irresistible so I went on 16x and lowered my shadow quality

also open up the renderer ini and search for "HairWorksAALevel=" and set it to 4 instead of 8. it defaults to msaa x8. might give you some more fps.

im failing to see how using a feature of DX11 NVidia trying to harm AMD.
AMD is all about how much they support DX, especially with all their DX12 "level 3" marketing, but anytime tessellation is used AMD has problems.

regardless, curious to see hairworks working flawlessly now when you use tessellation overrides.....kinda shows that hairworks itself has nothing to do with the performance but how well someone instead supports basic mainstream API features.

running i7 4790k with a 290 and 2560x1440p. Running on High settings, I found that hairworks would bring me from 50fps to 25, however doing the trick did nothing for my fps, maybe 2-3fps higher, doesnt matter if I select all HW or just Geralt.

well im using the same settings as you and getting around 40fps most of the time, believe me or not!

I am at work right now, so ill have to check the hariworks tesselation later though. but with shadows mid and foliage distance high, thats about what i get. i can even keep AA On and ambient occlusion high.

But i dont get the picks of 50~60 in any part of the game though.
