Love my 1080p OLED.

I'd rather have a 1080p OLED than a 4K LED.

THAT is how good OLED is. It makes me prefer a lower resolution just so I can have the OLED.

I was wondering why they didnt go with a picture frame. Thats kinda lame then... whats the point of a thin screen when you need the massive magnet in the back. Yeah you can peel it off, and then see the giant magnet in the back..... If they had inputs on the bottom left of the screen for power and hdmi, that would be cool. The screen would be the 1mm, except for the 10 mm block for the connections. Its cool, but kinda feels a bit smoke and mirrors to me right now.... what else does that magnet do.

I wish this thing could roll up.... would be nice to have a scroll like feel to a screen that locks like a snap bracelet would. (Mainly for smaller devices)

I keep hoping that this one company that I had some business with gets picked up by one of the major TV manufacturers. They make switchable mirrors - apply a voltage, and you can turn something from transparent to a mirror, or from a mirror to transparent.

What it means is that instead of a big black rectangle on your wall when you're not using your TV, you have a mirror. Turn the TV on, and the mirror layer turns transparent, and you watch TV as normal.

Would that reduce the viewing angle? That would be AWESOME though.

It may affect it some. They use liquid crystals, but in a different configuration than the typical on/off absorber structure you'd see in a standard liquid crystal display application. Getting what is effectively an LCD panel to be reflective instead of absorptive is actually rather tricky, on a technical level. They have some detail on their website:

Polarized glass on top should be able to do that.... not sure how clean of a mirror though.

Really they don't have to worry about making it look like a mirror or anything else while it's not active. At 1mm thick they can just make it so you can take a picture of your wall and it displays that as a wallpaper when in sleep mode using low power usage settings. biggrin.gif

OLEDs aren't on par with plasma. They're superior. Plasmas have been stomping on LCDs in terms of both image quality and value for decades but most people are just now discovering the benefits of plasmas with the introduction of OLED. I just hope and pray that the masses finally see the light this time and choose the better technology. Such a shame that plasma had to die.
