Overclocking Q9650 on P5KPL-AM

Hi smile.gif

First post here smile.gif Hoping some of you want to help a virgin overclocker smile.gif

I'm wondering if how much I would be able to overclock this CPU on the motherboard in questioned? smile.gif
Perhaps you could give me a little advice on do's and don't with this combo? smile.gif

Here's my info:

Windows 7 64-bit
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.0 Ghz
Motherboard: P5KPL-AM socket LGA775 (Bios to latest version)
Case: Antec NSK6582 w 430W PSU
I have 2 x 850 Evo SSD's, 2 x 4TB Western digital red hdd's
eVGA GeForce GT 640 - 2GB
extra ethernet card: NIC/Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter (EXPI9301CT)

Coolers:
Phanteks PH-F140SP_BK exhaust fan in the back
Scythe Kabuto II CPU heatsink
Arctic DCACO-V470001-BL Accelero S1 Plus for the GPU without a fan (Not sure I need a fan, because its an Audio workstation), its powering a 1440p yamakasi, and might power another one.

Thinking about buying a NZXT SENTRY 2... fan controller.

I see in CPU-Z that my ram is only 2x2gb of PC6400 400mhz. I thought it was more.
The motherboard supports "2 x DIMM, Max. 4 GB, DDR2 1066(O.C.)/800/667 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory". Which as far as I can tell is PC8500.
These are my ram http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX8500D2_2G.pdf
Not sure why CPU-Z is not saying PC8500. PDF says they are supposed to run at 1066MHz

I've read that some ram are already overclocked.
So do you think I will gain much by getting new ram? I If so which ram would you recommend for overclocking? :-) I'm located in Denmark.

Hope that a kind soul would like to help,

Kind regards,

Kenni

DDR2 is so expensive, I wouldn't bother. 1066Mhz RAM is perfectly fine. I think your Motherboard will be your limiting factor. I'm not too familiar with it. The CPU and RAM are capable of +4Ghz, easily. Your cooler is fine as well. It just depends how far that motherboard will let you overclock.

Thanks, I will just have to wait and see when I try it smile.gif waiting for the new coolers.

Any suggestions about what OC settings I should try?
