majin662, stay away from any of the "office OCN game servers"

Tried out BF3's server for a while.... worse than Halo 2's baby boy population

You've been around long enough, didn't you ever peek into the threads about Razer products back in 2012? They used to hold public beheadings for any rebels caught in their threads every day at dusk. biggrin.gif

hahaha. I've been around awhile but I never actively participated. This site was like the wikipedia or like a game guide for hardware, software, games etc. I used to lurk a lot without posting. More and more though I've gotten involved here and there but usually just in sporadic topics. Guess that's what keeps it clean for me.

I used to think that the average age of the forum members had something to do with it since OCN is definitely mostly under 25. Same goes for most of the gaming sites. Then I ventured into camera forums and they are as bad if not worse than OCN and I don't think the average user on those camera forums is in their early twenties. The only forum I frequent that has consistently mature responses with minimal trolling is watchuseek.

I still love OCN. You really just have to shrug your shoulders and go with it.

guess it's just the interwebs in general eh? I guess since, as I said above, I pick and chose topics I see it less.

I've only read the first page (for me a page is 100 posts) so far...

I have not followed the Witcher 3 development at all. I first saw this comparison a few days ago. I actually thought the two pictures in the comparison were of different places in the game because it looked so different. That dev picture would really be the second coming of a new Crysis.

I'm not super excited to play it, so I have a lot of time to wait to see if the situation improves. I got other games to play and things to do outside of gaming. I don't pre-order games. I'm not even going to preorder FO4 and Elder Scrolls 6.

Our fault for having trust in what was thought to be a trust worthy developer.

Seems legit.

rolleyes.gif

CDPR presented an announcement trailer for the game that looked amazing and ultimately proved to be too much for them to accomplish graphically. They were responsible for that.

You, the customer, are responsible for drawing the conclusion from a trailer released 18+ months in advance that "the final game is going to look like this or even better!". Now, that may have been a reasonable expectation, but it is an expectation that you are responsible for. CDPR can't make you do anything, and I'm tired of seeing people play the victim about this.

You are also responsible for your own expectations if you have been looking at the previous 12 months of screenshots/trailers and decided "I think the final game is going to look way better than this"... in that case likely an unreasonable expectation.

How do you explain the PC version looking identical to the console version lol.

Thats the whole thing.

Thays why AAA games need consoles for the big sales and PC for leftover profit, thats the whole point.

If there werent console sales they would not make the game for left over profit or with a very cut down budget but then games would be worse than a tuned down console port.

No one makes games out of goodness of their heart you are right, thats exactly why they say the game would not even be there in this state without consoles.

GTA V is a 2 year old game that everyone has already played, if you're going to use an example like that use a game people were actually purchasing for the first time. 12 million on consoles for a fresh release and 2 million sales on PC for a port probably earned them the same net profit anyways.

People always overlook the fact that consoles are much less profitable per unit than PC sales, and in this case you're talking about the consoles having to pay for the development of the game while PC had to pay for 3 guys' wages for a few months when R* finally decided they had time to port the game and console sales were dead in the water.

??? They were purchasing it for the first time (between Sept and Oct 2013):

http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/news/2013/10/confirmed-grand-theft-auto-breaks-six-sales-world-records-51900/

The time between the PC and PS3/360 and PS4/XB1 releases doesn't change the numbers or sales figures and the thrust of his argument.

Also how can you say that console sales are dead in the water for GTA V when it's still managing to rate as a top seller for the PS3 and in the top 5 for the PS4 (1 and 4 respectively)? Back in Feb it hit 10 million units across the PS4 and XB1.

For being as old as it is, the game is *still* selling well, and his point stands.

You are not being fair the game costed nearly 300 million dollars to make and this include advertisement. That's insane. That shows that a lot was poured towards marketing the game which is why it sold so well on consoles.

How could consoles hold it back when they stated it wouldn't have happened without the consoles (due to sales)?
That also debunks your PC game sales profits > Console game sales profits hypothesis... but I'm sure you'll find a way to spin it.

We just cannot afford it, because consoles allow us to go higher in terms of the possible or achievable sales; have a higher budget for the game, and invest it all into developing this huge, gigantic world.

Already addressed that issue by pointing out if they want to compare GTA to anything they need to compare it to Diablo III, and when compared to Diablo III's PC release GTA V is on par, but not anything mind-blowing by any means.

Already addressed this too. They never said it wouldn't have happened. They said it wouldn't exist "as it is".

Edit: And for the record, that's not me spinning that statement, that's CDPR spinning the statement and everyone falling for it, as you've shown since I've had to answer that question twice now.

Consoles are sub-30fps and according to Digital Foundry, "appear to lurk at the PC's mid-point in terms of overall quality"
