[Eurogamer] CD Projekt tackles The Witcher 3 downgrade issue head on - Page 6

I really don't care much about the graphics downgrade... the game looks fairly nice... not cutting edge, but would give C3 and FC4 a run for their money, but probably not win.

I'm severely disappointed how much the game feels like a horrible console port. No way to access the menu during a cutscene, which there were bunches piled on top of each other in the beginning.... too much forced perspective. I thought both mouse + keyboard and 360 controller were off. The lighting is kinda bad... all the character models which look mostly excellent had horrible lighting. All the vegitation is ALIVE... while I think some of the tree animations have a freaky realistic shudder to them, the timing and speed of all the foliage is consistently uncoordinated and unnatural. Things aren't always swaying or moving so it's very cartoony. The way dialogue prompts didn't disappear....

GTAV, Dying Light... and a bunch of other visually stunning games feel like real PC titles... the flow of the UI and menus, the feel of the controls... this felt like a crappy console port. But to be fair I only got to play for about 10 minutes on a friend's system. But judging by 970 SLI 1080p performance, I won't even bother with this title at 21:9.

Well, I hope they polish up the PC version a bit and optimize it to run better. Maybe I'll buy it if it improves a bit.

But yeah, I'm not impressed with the way CDPR answered many of those questions. They basically admitted selling out. I would have appreciated far more if they pulled a R* and polished up the PC version a bit more.

my favorite part was loading this up after installing fresh drivers and getting BSOD right after the beggining cutscenes...

finally had it with differentsliauto and getting perfectly matching gtx 970s that will natively SLI like i originally thought they would (i have the evga SSC 2975 and 3975 models... will not play nice with each other. thanks evga)

maybe then i'll get to see what all this fuss is about. i'm sure the graphics will be just awful at 4k with 40" of real estate.

on another note looks like i have an extra witcher key.. not sure theres much of a demand for it.. LOL

I swear people don't even read what they comment on.

So why the lies? Honesty goes a long way. Sorry, they've made two hit games, and open world games aren't exactly new, it's pretty obvious they are VERY taxing on hardware. You don't need to be a developer to understand this.

Even if somehow some way they were blind sided by this, why did they wait to address this after the sales have been made?

Even more so now that the so called PCMasterRace got lied to and butt hurt from this. That will be the big payback to them. Not buying. Results? Bye bye PC. You are not getting any more in the future. Wait till sales start coming in. Console sales will destroy pc sales. They will be sorry they even made it and released it on PC. Complete waste. Could have saved money they lost making it. I bet you PC sales will not even cover development cost of PC version.

Consoles=bread and butter. Deal with it. smile.gif

lol so now it is the blame game "pirate forced them to go console", guess what TW2 sold for 1 million copies in the first few month without console. They built their legacy on PC not console.

and who say console are not pirating?

He knew that it is not going to work and did not even dare to admit it before the launch. If that is not lying then i don't even know what is.

If all you can do is look at it from a profit perspective then I fear you'll never understand why budgeting for one game is better than two in terms of quality.

why cant they just have an extra Ultra setting that require a OCed 4790K or 5960X with dual titan X just to run at 1080p @ 60fps?

pretty sure they wouldnt get such backslash like now. All it need is to let those who has money to play max graphic setting while let those who dont have money wait a couple of years to replay the game at max quality. Just like what crysis 1 once was.
