Well, we have the Team Cup at hand. thumb.gif

I wanted a 5960X myself to help me pull out some good 3D scores.

I wanted this improved so bad!

The PCI-E x4 (x2) will only run at x2 max. And in my Intel 750 I ran an SSD benchmark and at x2 I get 350 mB/sec instead of 2500 mB/sec.

So if I want to use my Intel 750 AND a Samsung 961 M.2 I'd have to go back to my X99-A II. If I disable the USB 3.1 I can do my GPUs in 16x/16x, my Intel 750 4x and the 961 4x.

I really really like the Thermal Armour on the Sabertooth so it's a tough call. redface.gif

I'm ditching USB 3.1 if I have to. thumb.gif

Hi everybody, I appreciate all the advice and information that everyone has given me here . I managed to get my overclock to be stable with adaptive voltage working at 1.24 with 4.5ghz oc.
And I want to thank everybody who help me
I have one last question before I finish my build for this gaming computer. If I wanted to add more ram would I have to take everything out and place it on a flat surface before I put the ram in? If it's still on the motherboard standoffish would that cause too much flex on the motherboard if I were to install it like that ? I'm very gentle with my computer since I worked so hard to get it

Adding RAM will be troublesome. You are no longer working pairs that are tested to work together. You should really need to grab a new set esp when you are overclocking them as well.

Putting the ram inside a case is not tricky. You don't need a ton of force to insert them.

Do you guys have the CPU power regulation on anything other than Auto? I'm wondering if increasing the thermal limits and current limits would allow me to hit 4.7GHz given I'm only at 1.23V with 4.6.

The PCI-E_4 slot will only work at x2 no matter how you configure your board. This isn't good for me as I wanted to do two GPUs x16, one PCI-E SSD x4 and one M.2 x4. The PCI-E_4 shots only works x2 and M.2 disables third PCI-E x16 slot.

If I want to do this setup will need to go back to my ASUS X99-A II. If I disable the USB 3.1 and don't use the PCI-E_1 slot I can do two GPUs, x4 PCI-E, and x4 M.2.

I really really don't want to give up the Sabertooth though, nicest board I've ever owned. frown.gif

The cards are watercooled right?

If so, maybe think about putting the 2nd card in the X8 slot. That way, you'll free up some lanes. Is that possible?

@stargate125645

These chips are not about Voltage headroom. They have their own Voltage walls. Past a certain clock, the Voltage needed will be very high on some chips at best. But most will likely not stabilize at all. Maybe check if that is the case.

Otherwise, I'd set those Power Limits to max. Which is a must when overclocking IMO. The thermal limit does not affect stability IMO too.

I need to use the top two x16 slots for my GPUs. An M.2 disables the x8 slot. Hence wanting to use the PCI-E x4 for my Intel 750. redface.gif

Edit: The PCI-E_4 slot only works x2 max no matter how you configure the PCI-E lanes. It's a limitation on the Sabertooth itself. frown.gif

Second Edit: If I do get a Samsung 961 M.2 and want to use my 1.2TB Intel 750 for storage (I'm not a file hoarder, other then drivers and a few programs I use on a reinstall, I have very minor storage needs) I'll have to go back to my ASUS X99-A II. Can do two GPUs, Intel 750 and M.2 with it.

Anyone want to buy a nearly new TUF motherboard? wink.gif I j/k, I'd sell it locally for cash, I live in a city of over five million peeps and is easy to do, mind you I have to lose a good chunk of what I paid for it to sell it. frown.gif
