Cache OC is achieved through the OC socket extra pins. As explored by some members keep cache default will reduce the chance of most voltage overshooting.

Never used XMP. Just changed to offset. Will not OC cache, that s h i t does nothing in gaming anyway...my vccsa has been always around 1.000 ~1.020... Maybe the offset and no cache oc will do it. Thx for the tips.

Before it kill my previous 6800k, it was cache overclocked and adaptative was on...so it seems to make sense.

Before my 6950X went kaboom it was also on adaptative vcore with cache overclocked to 3.6GHz.

But again my old 5820K was with the exact same configuration with cache overclocked to 4GHz and it was good for 2 years.

Which has been shown by the super frequent BIOS update to the ASUS X99 line up. They are probably trying to patch off this buggy hardware implementation. All other motherboard manufacturers without OC socket overclocks just fine.

Wait are you still on the TUF X99 that killed your first CPU? I was informed by ASUS that the motherboard VRM may be damaged as well during the killing of CPU. Try swap out the board if possible. Otherwise it may be a real timed bomb.

Got a test CPU and check out the replacement TUF X99. The replacement worked just fine, which confirms once again my 6950X is toasted.

On the test CPU I am having EVERYTHING on manual except vcore, which is on negative offset. Funny now I am doing manual tuning I found I can get 128GB RAM stable at DDR4-3000 for only 1.1V VCCSA. And this time I am NOT overclocking cache at all.

And this is a 5930K.

Anyone using the EKWB nvme heatsink on the Sabertooth X99? Would it fit onto the thermal armor?

I'm no longer using my Sabertooth X99 but give me a minute, I'll pop my EK NVME heatsink into it with my 960 Pro and let you know. biggrin.gif

Edit: No, it doesn't really fit. It's very tight and I would have had to force it in to get it to fit.

Just as wide as the slot in the motherboard and I never wanted to force it in of course. redface.gif
