m0n4g3, any thoughts on your CPU and RAM performance with this motherboard given they are what I would buy?

They work well together. Would i get the same combo? Yep for the CPU and RAM. Would i get the sabertooth again? I'm actually missing my rampage....

Are you able to get your RAM to the advertised specs? Would it be worthwhile to get faster RAM? I've heard X99 chipsets don't like overclocking RAM so I refrained from picking faster RAM. I can buy faster if it's usable.

As far as the Rampage goes, what makes the extra $100+ worth it such that you miss it?

So for you guys having issues with XMP try upping the voltage slightly, who knows, maybe it will fix your issues.

This board is capable of memory OC. It lacks the bells and whistles of the RVE but you can OC the memory on par.

I have a Ripjawz 4 2400C15 32GB kit of Micron make that I was able to dial in at 2666 C12 at 1.32Volts VDIMM. RVE tops the same kit at same levels. thumb.gif

In a note, if any of you has Micron based memory, 1.35V and over VDIMM will only give you issues at training.

@stargate,

Debug LED. The ability to give you the idea of what goes wrong during Memory training is always a plus.

That's a cool looking air cooled rig smile.gif

Especially because of the Radeon smile.gif

What are those hoses for though? (between the CPU cooler and GPU).

I'm thinking you water cooled your chipset and/or GPU but can't make out from the PIC.

How fast should I expect to be able to overclock RAM on this board? I imagine quad channel RAM at 2666 is still faster than dual channel at 3000+ so X99 beats Z170 even if it doesn't overclock as well, but I'd like to know what I can expect from the RAM.

That would depend on how you plan to use it.

Sabertooth x99 is an excellent gaming board, and from what they say is also a decent OC board but not on par with the R5E. The MSI I don't know anything about other than it has nice specs.

What can one expect in RAM speed and processor overclock though with the Sabertooth? 4GHz 5930k and 3000MHz RAM? And how much better would it be on the much more expensive Rampage? If we are talking along the lines of around 100MHz processor speed or RAM speed increase capability with the Rampage, I wouldn't spend the extra money, for example.
