How are you liking the monitor so far, by the way? Considering getting one of these to replace my crappy 24" TN for gaming, but I haven't heard any feedback outside of the loosely translated playwares review.

Your monitor may be difficult to calibrate with software. I assume you got the single input model (which OC's) and that only has a brightness level control (no gamma, contrast or color adjustments). You could use the calibration applet in windows which can allow you to adjust things to some degree (along with the settings in the Nvidia CP). But the color profile it generates may not hold in games. Not sure if Color Sustainer works with windows generated ICC profiles (making them stick in games) but may be worth a try.

Personally I use a colorimeter (Colormunki Display @ around $160) for proper calibration. Main benefit is that it allows you to not only calibrate the display but to measure the calibration values to ensure you've got it as close to perfection as possible.

Also your monitor does not have a large user base here at OCN where people share ICC profiles. Not that that is ideal since each monitor may differ slightly from the other. Maybe you can contact NCX for advice on that and he may recommend something for you. If he has tested this monitor he may even share some of the ICC profiles he generated from it.

p.s. default brightness out of the box may be too bright. I would first start by bringing brightness all the way down to 0. Then click the + button about 12 or 13 times (around the same as my Catleap and Qnix) which brings it to around 130 cd/m2 ) which should make it more comfortable in viewing.

Why not post this in the 2795QHD thread? There are 50,000 one-question Qnix/X-Star threads; we don't need 50,000 one question threads for this monitor too. It's not possible to 'software calibrate' monitors without a colorimeter, nor is it necessary with this monitor since it has excellent colour presets. It's possible to use the AMD or NVidia Control panel, but both of their settings ruin the image quality and are usually ignored by games.

That may be true in having good color presets, but some can be slightly off. ie, my Catleap has a slightly greenish tinge which I find necessary to correct with calibration. My Qnix has a slight reddish tinge which I prefer to correct as well. Yet these monitors also were known to have 'excellent color presets'. But by and large, the default color presets may be fine for most.

Thats the one. Damn good deal @ $119. Bought mine for 160 about a year ago. But do note that the default software that comes with it is rubbish. There is much better calibrating software that you can use when you get it: DiscalGUI/ArgyllCMS. You will have to do a lot of reading and it may seem overwhelming, but it is actually simple to use. Once you get it, let me know and I can suggest the initial settings for you to use.

Still worth it. Hell, me and my old man shared a i1 Display Pro, and at first we thought it was a waste of money. Little did we know that we use it all the darn time. Gotten more than its money worth out of it. The Colormunki Display is basically a slower i1DP that doesn't work with some other more advanced applications, but is effectively the same tier of quality. And by slower, I mean about 5-6 mins slower at calibrating. But it still reaches the same point as the i1DP in the end.

Do you think it will still work on with my screen? As my LCD only has brightness buttons and no colour calibration options.
