This might be a long shot but try and move the video card to another PCI-E slot, the slot you use right now might be broken or something so try and move the video card and see if that helps or not.
It could also be a broken RAM module so if moving the video card does not help try and remove all but one of your RAM modules, if that does not help either try another module in another slot.

If none of all that helps we are down to either a broken PSU or broken motherboard.

I will try using other pcie slots later, because its quite tedious.

about the ram module, I just searched the internet and found this : http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/pc-upgrades/3432631/how-check-for-bad-ram-modules-in-your-pc/ do you think its the same situation?

This is tough TBH but I solved mine by replacing the motherboard. But that isn't to say something is wrong with your board. Here's why:

I've had similar issue on Asrock OC formula, literally replaced every component possible including Processor, PSU and OS (win7/win8.1) and it still shuts down randomly on GRID 2. Funny thing is, I replaced it with the same motherboard you have [Maximus Hero vii] and the issue went away since then. Although I still have another asrock board (not OC formula) and is totally fine running the game. I don't have planetside so I can't verify wink.gif

I even tried installing clean OS and just the basic drivers (lan, NVidia/amd) + steam + grid 2 on another hard drive and it still did shut down randomly only in GRID 2.

Interestingly, it's totally fine when using Intel gpu (integrated gpu). Nvidia said it could be my monitor, well I have 3 different monitor models/brands here at home and it shuts down still. Asrock replaced my board and it still shuts down. I never contacted AMD though.

I grabbed a maximus hero vii from the store and my headache just went away.

Good luck!

Another update, I just tried playing AC Black flag 1980x1200, all setting set to the highest 4xMsaa, played until bored. no shut down.
but when I open planetside 2, during the character selection(menu) poof, the pc shuts down. I don't think there's anything wrong with the hardware, probably the game itself?

Either the coding of the game itself, the hw or the drivers....or The combination of all 3. we can probably attach a debugger but i don't think it's worth the trouble.

If its just one game then its probably not a hardware problem.
Sounds more like a driver problem or something.

Because this is the first time I'm having this problem. also, during gameplay I always check the cpu temp, they never goes over 60C.

btw, shilka, have you ever had a bad experience with silverstone psu?

SilverStone does not make PSU´s they like almost every other brand buys from an OEM in China.
Corsair / Cooler Master / NZXT / EVGA just to name a few does not make anything either

I see,I literally didn't know that. before I buy a psu, the only thing I consider is total watt, the rating, the tier and the dimension(size)
thanks!
