Any other opinions on the m500? Reviews seem good but i just dont know how far behind the curve it is compared to todays drives.4
I actually looked at this a few months ago (it was $299 then). It LOOKS like a fantastic deal, and it is, BUT not as much as you think.
Here we have a 1TB 850 EVO. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E1T0B-AM/dp/B00OBRFFAS
It's got 40 GB more (4.2%) and is about 15% "faster", yet costs only $350 (about 16.7%. more). I would say the 850 EVO 1TB at $350 IS a better buy if you're factoring in performance. However... a lot of people don't factor in performance with SSD's even if the gap between them is 15%. If your only concern is size and it not being extremely slow compared to the rest, then the 960GB Crucial M500 is the absolute best for the money AFAIK. But if speed is a factor at all, then the EVO 850 would be the better choice for price.
EDIT: It should be noted that my Amazon price watcher/recorder camelcamelcamel says the 1TB 850 EVO was going for $335 about a week ago, so if you want to get it but can wait I highly recommend getting that camelcamelcamel add on and setting a price watch, so you can be notified by email when the price drops to whatever you specify! Saves me money all the time! Edited by cookieboyeli - 5/21/15 at 9:38pm
