For an arcade racer NFS was always a solid option, I just cant see myself buying a racing game these days for anything over 30 usd.

Good point.

I know for me I'm still waiting on a great burnout game to follow up burnout 3. I didn't dig paradise. My favorite NFS was hot pursuit (came to the series later on in it's life)

Can they do enough to draw in the racers as you mentioned, who have stuck to 1 or 2 titles? Will they instead add a lot of flash and no substance to try and grab a newer crowd? My head says this being EA, they'll go flash all the way. I just don't see EA going even semi sim route. What really can they add to an arcade racer nowadays to make it different from any of the older ones?

Definitely see a "season pass" and some microtransactions. too cynical?

I'd recommend setting your expectations lower than dirt for this game, simply because EA is going to hype it to the moon and everyone's nostalgia stacked on top of that is going to guarantee disappointment.

Captain, EA automaticly translates to just plain badness in my book. [EDIT HERE] Made a boo boo and forgot some text there.

If it is as good or better than the original NFS Underground series, I will hapily spend that kind of money or more (60 dollars) on that game. It is EA however, so my expectations are lowered to the bottom of the sea.

Seeing them go semi sim wouldn't be to much of a surprise realy. Well, that is looking at Need For Speed Shift (2009). And what can they add to arcade racers? Well, basicly what us Underground/Most Wanted fans have been crying about: Customisation of cars, the hole street racing/Tokyo drift type of feel, and pimped out cars. I haven't seen something like that in about 8/9 years. The last game doing that being NFS Undercover, and that wasn't exactly great. Underground 2 was amazing. Not to give them any ideas, but if they would just reskin that game with a new graphics enginge, I would gladly play that again. Oh, and I would like my cheesy cutscenes back. I know this is a touchy subject with some people here, but I really like the cheesy ness of them thumb.gif And being EA, of course people will be cautios. People on this forum don't seem to be oblivious to what is going on with Ubisoft and EA. They are really batling it out for that golden poo award wink.gif

Customisation would be nice. Sadly I see that being done MK krypt style. Very slow in game currency unlock OR a quick 99c here 99c there with real money. Have they released any other details other than that flashy trailer? Is this going to be another "openworld" always online DRM racer?

I don't see that happening. I know the triple A industry is doing
stupid things at the moment, but I don't see them doing something that stupid. The backlash would probaly be one of the biggest in recent histroy when they would add a currency in game, and make it F2P mobile levels of slow (obviously not forgetting microtransactions). I just don't see that happening. Of course though, I leave that option open. After all, they're EA. Anyways, back to Hearthstone wink.gif Overclock.net should probaly just compile a list of user voted, best F2P games. I think that would be a pretty interesting topic.

It's worth the 60$ because of the value.NFS U2 and MW were huge games. I remember U2 took me about 6 months to complete. Lots of races and cars to collect. That's what separated it from most titles for me. I really wanted to race and upgrade etc. It was an addictive loop. I can only assume the worst with this title. DLC, stripped content, horrible plot mode and poor customization.

Underground 2 was the best NFS. Hell yeah... however, it is EA. And like one person said, unless this is the second coming of man I will boycott it like I do anything EA.

It's most likely going to have a 30fps cap and not be as good as you are expecting. EA has messed up pretty much every franchise in the last 5 or so years.
