Z170i Pro... Gaming. Everything good until I read the word "Gaming", which must mean a red-black theme and bling.

at least its better than those budget "gaming" motherboards.
e.g. it has premium audio capacitors ( ooooh ), burr-brown op-amps ( woooow ), ALC662 ( .... ).

they pointlessly inflated the price with niche parts, yet didn't upgrade the most needed part.
imho, if they didn't add those "premium" parts, and just slapped in an ALC1150 then it would've sounded far better.

That's exactly what I was thinking but to be fair it's early days yet. I'd be looking to replace a P8Z77-I and I'm not sure ASUS Z170i Pro Gaming is going to be at least equivalent - I'm not interested in on-board audio quality as everything is HDMI. Also the question of whether the ITX will support DDR4.

These are the models I would have expected to see.... not much of a leak with no pictures or feature leaks.

Huh, I thought Asus confirmed that Extreme were going to be HEDT-platform only from now on.
