Well nV took too long to make the change back to allow overclocking, ill support AMD from here on out.
I OC'ed my GT555M but there wasn't much headroom just another 100MHz which I could never use when on the battery so I only did it when on vacation and thrilled to play a game. It's not something I would really miss in a laptop is all I'm saying.

My GTX 970M > any AMD mobile GPU

Who really cares about overclocking at laptop GPU ? Also, Nvidia is really kicking AMD a** in mobile GPU's

The 555M was a rip off card to begin with. For reference I was able to overclock my old 540m to 555m levels with 0 voltage bumps and thats with 96 cores that you working with. Not exactly much. Your referencing Fermi when whats being debated here is Maxwell, if its anything like the last time all other architectures were unaffected.

Get something like maxwell level anything and you can almost shoot for the stars as far as the potential you have.

For Reference...

This isnt about Red vs Green.

Its about getting the most out of the investment you made to obtain said components.

Most of my laptop GPUs OC proportionally more than my desktop cards, despite no voltage adjustments on the former.

My old 7900GS Go in my Gateway laptop OCed almost 40%.

Most of my laptops have been OCed and had no issues with cooling because most of them were mid-range variants that used the same board and chassis/cooling as the high-end parts.

It's not wise to OC some laptops, but any blanket comment to the effect of it being unwise to OC any laptop is an inherently inaccurate over generalization.

I do not believe that OC'ing laptops should be banned, but good lord what is the point, unless you done a custom loop for some odd reason and modded the heck out of your laptop.

Less battery, more heat, +5FPS if you are lucky

Your not gaming on a battery when your overclocking.

They are already here lol. Questioning why we do it but then put battery life in the discussion (because we oc and game on battery amirite?). Oh also assuming they would never overclock a laptop. Because a $400 hp craptop is the same as a $1k MSI or Alienware. This forum is not what it used to be sadly.
