People are running into issues with 4GB at 1080P. What makes you think that 6GB is enough for 4K? The lowest I'd go with 4K is 8GB. With anything less you're just shooting yourself in the foot.

How many titles can you list that will use more than 6GB on 4K resolution right now? Not really too many.

W3 does.

Batman: AK looks impressive in the visuals department.

It'll only get worse on the Vram, hehe.

I use 5.5+ gigs of ram playing GTA 5 with close to max settings with 2xAA @4K...anyways, I don't keep my cards too long, so, by the time that the next cards come out with more vram, I'll jump on that...what, the GTX 1080?

a lot actually. i've seen a table with Titan X 4K vram usage and most recent games were in 4-6GB territory, some exceeding 6GB. i don't understand your way of thinking "Not really too many", so you are ok with buying GPU that's already outdated as far as vram goes?

i'm talking strictly about 4K here, for lower resolutions 980Ti will of course be excellent.

It's certainly getting harder to fit everything into this memory space with higher fidelity textures starting to crop up and UHD resolutions, and it's not going to suddenly go away. I think 6GB is still sufficient for 4K however. But sufficient can be open to subjection.

for some reason I still think that Titan X is not full uncloak GM200

Can you link the table? My post is simple just don't overthink it thumb.gif

If I play 10 games on my 4K monitor and only 1 is vram limited to look amazing, I obviously am not going to go buy a new video card. Considering the amount of titles released this year, last year, and the different genres you need to factor in how many of them people will play.

I wouldn't have a problem with a 4GB card now knowing many of the settings will consume vram and my eye won't be able to tell the difference. Like AA on 4K. I personally have 3GB cards and until everything I play can't be played at it's best I have no intention of upgrading instantly.

Playing Dying Light in 4K now. Vram use is about 3700-3800 with AA off.

Watched a Dying Light gameplay video on youtube, settings the same as me except AA on and it was using as much ram as my 4K setup.

Not saying that more isn't better though.

It's only gonna get worse though. Remember barely 2 years ago people were saying 2GB was plenty for 1080p. Well turns out it really wasn't.
