[Fud] US Navy to sink IBM after Lenovo deal - Page 10

>> Companies stop hiring as many fulltime

>>> part time pay at current rates are no good for living (avg jobs)

>>>> Base hourly goes up to counter

>>>>> companies cut hours down even more to make up for cost increase

And the wheel keeps turning however it doesnt help. You could make 40 an hour getting 12 to 20hrs week but low end your replacable...and not going anywhere

Vs someone with career who could be making 45 base at 30+ who has every opportunity to be an asset and move up...its up to ourselves what path we want to take, no matter what goverment tries doing lol

I understand his frustration having been stuck with low wages for a long time myself. I am worth more than I am payed based on skill, experience, and loyalty but those above me don't seem to think so. They seem to maintain the attitude you had in your original post that we are all asking for far more than we are worth. It irks, and is hard to just "forget". Anyways I think the solution is better business models where from the get-go employees are offered better compensation or better stake in the company. People should be valued for more than just the work they can get done with their hands. Machines can snap together parts and do soldering...

what it comes down to is that american workers should not have to compete with third world citizens. especially considering the difference in living cost.

the current system was not put in place to benefit america at a national level per se. it was designed to allow the us to "bribe" third world countries with jobs and wealth in order to gain access to their natural resources and stave off the soviet union and communism.

it is obviously not sustainable at this point considering that we have a massive debt caused in part by decreasing middle class incomes and the failure to raise income on top earners to compensate. this is particularly an issue because middle class americans pay a higher income percentage in taxes than upper class americans, because earnings after a point aren't taxed.

I think it's also a culture thing, I feel Americans (myself being one) want to enjoy life more than some cultures, which means spending less time in education/training/self-learning. There is nothing wrong with enjoying life = spending more time with family or friends, but there is a price to be paid for everything, including a reduced ability to compete for high wages with people who spend more time polishing their marketable skills. This is of course only considering only within the states, it's a slightly different problem if you want to include out-sourcing.

Oh look it's another. "I said something stupid, someone replied to my stupid comment, now I'm going to say you mad bro?"

How juvenile.

the only reason the american system continues to exist as it does today is due to the stupidity and general ignorance of americans toward other countries and different political and economic systems. that and the continued idiotic myth of american exceptionalism, which is based on this ignorance.

Our rich are exuberant and they waste time fearing what they'll lose if they pay their employees more. However the greatest humor is that by doing what they do they're killing the value of the American dollar making their money worthless. They probably don't care because they've got millions in off shore accounts.

College debt is quite easy to pay off if you go for a real degree that actually contributes something to society such as Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. With those degrees you will get a job almost instantly after graduating assuming you are actively looking for one and actuakly got internships while in school.

A trashy Womens Studies or Liberal Arts degree does not contribute anything to society; you don't even get educated actually - you become stupider for taking those classes. No one wants to hear you play victim and whine about big bad "rich people" holding you down.

it's stupid economic policy either way. doesn't it make more sense for people to be able to put that money into the economy, rather than simply benefiting banking entities that make money off interest from student loans?

it's not just the average american that is in debt anyway; america itself is in the hole for almost $20 trillion. which is partly due to economic policies that don't benefit that national economy and hurt the potential us tax base.
