Cinebench R15: 4% increase (single-thread), 9% increase (multi-thread)

First of all, pretty consistent results (rounded to 1 digit but still).
Also: is there any improvement in multi-threading in Skylake or does it just boost better when all 4 cores are active due to higher TDP?

So, it is around 9% increase in IPC

i7 4790K has 200Mhz higher turbo clock, thats why the gap is smaller in single-threaded benchmark

Yet they send Linus two 18 core Hyper-threading enabled Xeons, for a total of 72 threads, for a server he just did. $9,000 in processors, to a Youtuber.....for his video editing server.

Yet paying customers still can't get a decent core count from Intel.

those prices were from NCIX the currency was Canadian Dollar, not US Dollar. it should be the same price they have now

wait for skylake-e or zen by then you could have high performance cpus with 6 or more cores for less money

5% single-threaded and 10% multi-threaded improvement for 2 generations? Pretty disappointing given the rumors of 20%+ IPC over Haswell and it being Intel's "most important processor architecture in a decade", but not really surprising. Hopefully it at least clocks better than Haswell, though that seems unlikely.

Well that was more in the mobile space because of the power efficiency gains.

wow. if those numbers are true, this represents an even smaller gain over broadwell then broadwell was over haswell.

horrible.

Skylake was heralded by intel as the IPC boost architecture. and this is what they gave us? less then 10%, significantly less then 10% gains over same clocked haswell cpu, and those gains probably could be explained away by the DDR4 ram it's running.

disgusting.

I was planning on upgrading to skylake this summer. i might just pass on that; and simply shift over to a haswell-e

We shouldn't have to go into the IntelProcessorFamily-E to get 6 cores, that is my point. I also highly doubt that when "Skylake-E" hits, we will see a 6 core "Skylake", that will be reserved for their HEDT "Skylake-E".

Well, you technically have 8 cores (threads) already. As long as it beats AMD's 8 real cores they won't lift a finger.
