Strange fan behavior resulting in extreme noise at medium to high rpms.

Hi, fans making more noise as their rpm increases is obvious but my two Noctua 120mm noctua ippc-2000s are exhibiting a strange behaviour.

The problem: When the fans reach 1500+ rpm they start making an extreme amount of noise.

The situations:

S1: Two fans are plugged into the same socket ( changing sockets made no difference) with a splitter.

Result: Extreme noise at high rpms.

S2: Two fans are plugged into different sockets, Cha1 and Cha2. Note: Which two sockets were irrelevant to the result.

Result: Same as situation 1.

S3: One fan is plugged in (socket not relevant), the other unplugged.

Result: Silence at low to medium rpm, acceptable noise at full speed.

S4: The other fan is plugged in (socket not relevant), the other unplugged.

Result Same as situation 3.

Further description: The noise that arrives with two fans at full speed sounds whining, ie. a higher pitch than usual wind-sounds. I wanted to use these two fans as push/pull on my radiator, and thought that the turbulence might be causing it. But placing the fans at different places around the chassi made no difference to the noise-level at high rpms.

Summation: My two fans are both silent at low rpms and keep a good noise-level at high rpms, assuming only one of them is in use. So the fans are not defective.

Regardless of position in the chassi and the sockets they are connected to, they make an extreme amount of noise at higher rpms when both plugged in.

If anyone here has any thoughts on why this might be I'd be thankful to hear them.

Thanks for reading.

How do you know that the fans making the most noise aren't just at higher RPMs?
