Its too easy to have a bad game, unless you have loads of mates or clan members online, it just gets a bit boring abs messy.

At least with battlefield, the ability to change play style meant that you could jump on alone and still have a lot of fun.

At 12pm on a mid week, it's not easy to find fun in Squad.

I do think it is fun, I know my post sounded like I didn't. It's just really slow. People are super friendly though, which I love. I also do think when vehicles hit, it will be a much better game, even if it is just to get to the action a tad sooner. I do think that fact alone is going to effect that revive mechanic hugely if a medic can just get in a vehicle and get back quick to revive someone.

What is wrong with the revives?

This is just from my time playing it:

Right now it takes so long to revive someone (if the medic isn't close), that people give up. Having to wait 5 minutes for a revive, not exactly fun or productive, so people click the give up. Add vehicles into the mix, and you are going to reduce the time/distance for medics, and gonna see a lot more revives. That is going to change the way people play the game alot imo.

Good stuff guys. Squad is unique in that it has elements that feel like Battlefield, ArmA, Insurgency, America's Army Rainbow Six, etc. It's definitely it's own game. I've been playing for a bout a year now and I'm still having a blast!

Make sure to check out the video below for the basics.

@ShadedWar What FPS were you getting in a full 72p server with that GTX 1080? Just curious. smile.gif

I find the revive control a bit buggy, also you have to field dress before switching to healing which is just an unnecessary afaic.
It could all be under the one click and animation if it's required.

HAd me Antlion Mic turn up today. Great bit of kit.
Wasn't to impressed at first, mic was picking up heaps of TV despite settings and some distortion/echo.
Then found Soundblaster had new drivers for the Z card and all sweet now.
Now everyone will hear my swearing. lol

Just wanna remind people, if ya have Xfire, use the Paragon Xfire profile.

I picked up the game last night, and tried it today. If I had to describe my experience in one to three words would be underwhelming and frustrating. Picked a server that wasn't full, and I was immediately greeted with a banner saying, "If you're new ask for help." I did, typed in, "I'm new, I need help." I got 3 replies via in-game voice, "Go buy a mic." *chuckle amongst themselves. I then type what's the PTT button, they tell me and I say, "I do have a mic, and I still need help. What do I do?"

*crickets*

I ask again, and still no reply. The squad leader is telling everyone but me what to do, and I wander around for 35 mins, spawning and dying. I even asked if I should respawn or wait to be revived, multiple times, and I was not answered.

That's my first experience with the game. Does it get better? Is the community really all that different from any number of other FPS games?

You need to find a clan run one with active members. Makes a massive difference.

I had everything set to max except I turned off motion blur and lens flair. I also cranked the textures to 200%.

Most of the time I was sitting on 60FPS vsync, with some dips to low 50's on Sumari Bali when looking into the city. I think the absolute lowest was 45FPS while the police station was being assaulted with smoke grenades and explosions at the end.

Here is some screenshots of us flanking their FOB. There might be some compression on them, but in game the 200% textures made a very noticeable upgrade to the foliage. The first thing I noticed was how much better trees looked when you get really far away compared to the standard settings being dark colored blobs.

I had exact opposite experience on a full Aussie server. I joined a squad and the squad leader left which made me soul person and squad leader squad leader. Then outa the blue 6 guys piled in. I crouched under cover and typed "No mic Noobie" and a guy who was obviously a SL vet talked me through getting SL to him and what we were all going to do. Answered all my typed questions on the fly.

I think the game could use a "free to play, noobie map" to get people in and to learn. But humans being humans would probably be hacked to pieces by those in the know.

Did you watch the video above? It goes over the basics. I'll also throw in this screenshot.

The only thing available is the Firing Range where you can practice to see how the different weapons handle.
