I like it as a design choice, I'm sick of companies making products as small as possible just because they can. There is such thing as a device that is too small, I've lost quite a few small usb drives and usb dongles that are pretty much the size of the plug.

It's good that this dongle comes with a wire so it doesn't plug directly in to the port, with it's width and some port spacing, the wire may be necessary to not lose a port.

People will complain about anything, but it's not a big deal, except when minor issues are complained about in the same way as major issues. Some people turn every molehill into a mountain.

Main reason I only use PS3/4 controllers, other than liking the layout better of course.

Why spend an extra $25 ( nearly half the price as a controller itself ) for something that you shouldn't need to?

Fully agree, but then again, commercialism.

My loyal Asus BT211 bluetooth adapter that I had for over 2 years broke, it worked soo well with PS3 and PS4 controllers.
It got crushed under my PC and the antenna's range is now really bad. sad-smiley-002.gif

I'm gonna pick up a Asus BT400 soon but in the meantime I've decided to grab a Xbox One Wireless Adapter for my new Xbox One controller, I got it really cheap for about £7.50 so I decided to go for it.

For anyone with a Bluetooth adapter and PS3 or PS4 controllers I highly recommend this program.

PCSX2 - ScpToolkit (XInput Wrapper aka ScpServer Reloaded)

It's fantastic, and the service reinstalls the Bluetooth and controller drivers automatically if they happen to disappear. It also has some really good configurable options like sound effects on startup and connections too.

I finally could get my hands on this, I bought the Gamepad + Adapter bundle, I have been using it for a little over a week and I noticed Windows does a double beep when the battery is low on charge, this double beep increases in frequency the closer it gets to depleting. I'm using the play and charge kit, so I don't know if this feature is available using regular rechargeable batteries.

I still don't see any store selling the Stand alone Adapter around here, but the Gamepad + Adapter bundle is priced decently and it comes with the latest revision of the gamepad (the one with the audio jack integrated).

Actually, yea I would. At least then it wouldn't block ports. It has an extender so at least they accounted for that. Looks like it wont matter soon since the new controllers have (or will have) bluetooth. Though I wonder if you can actually use multiple controllers that way as well or just one?

The XBOX One adapter comes with an extension wire.  It's not blocking any ports at all.

I originally had the controller and would use the cord to plug in. But that got old with a short cord I used. I recently picked up the dongle and have been enjoying it immensely. $25 isn't a steep price imo.

You won’t have to buy a wireless dongle to use the latest Xbox One controller on your PC.
Quote:
The new controller is the one that ships with the Xbox One S, and though it doesn’t have a name, it has a couple of neat little additions. Microsoft claims the controller has more precise sticks, which also have better better grips at the top. Similarly, the controller itself has textured grips to improve handling.

The best new innovation, though, is that it supports Bluetooth as well as the regular Wifi Direct. This means you can use the controller with devices that support Bluetooth like tablets, laptops and of course PCs.

Didn't see the need of a new thread and I didn't find this posted either. E3 news but very relevant for PC gamers looking to get an Xbox One controller.

As soon as I saw the title to this thread I was gonna make a post about that. haha I'm excited, but also upset at the same time because I just got all the controllers I had wanted to have on hand (both halo ones and one of the covert forces with custom metal sticks) But a bluetooth controller will be amazing. Able to use it on your phone and PC with no extra dongle would be nice. But I run windows 7 so fyi anyone that wanted to get one of these dongles but weren't sure if they would work or not. They work great even with windows 7. I won't ever go back to a 360 controller after using one of the updated xb1 controllers.

As for those of you that were complaining about the size of the thing, would you rather have it super tiny and get broken or lost super easily or something nice and solid that you can find? Plus with a bit of creativity (c'mon I know y'all have at least a little bit right?) that "huge" dongle can be masked and hidden easily.
