The reason I never finished it was the game breaking negative acceleration, and that alone ensures that TW1 can never be as good as TW3. If the fundamental input is shagged, then it doesn't matter how good the rest of the game is. There were some other aspects of the game that were janky as hell though. I'm reluctant to condemn the game for it's combat because I can see that they had a noble goal; to try and avoid making combat a mindless clickfest. I like the idea of a combat system that discourages button mashing, but TW1's system just didn't work.

It's fair. TW3 is GOTY and the best game ever played in years.
Massive kudos to CDPR I'm totally in love with it.

???

It's the only game people have been talking about since GTA V was released.

I guess they meant that it's a young franchise, that hasn't been popular for as long as TES etc. It really hit critical mass with the second game.

Your "i don't care if the game could be better as long as it it fun" is like "i don't care if swimming, control is retarded as long as it is fun"

I remember that ridiculous GTA5 figure. There's a lot of content in that game, but not 265m worth.
US style accounting, they blow up the cost to make it seems a lot and pocket the profit. Remember "The return of Jedi" movies was made unprofitable by those accountants.

Technically, the "franchise" started in 1990, it just didn't get out of Poland until much later.

We're speaking within the realm of video gaming, obviously. Don't worry, no one's forgotten where The Witcher came from.

I know, it was kinda tongue-in-cheek ;>.

Anyway, i see no reason not to give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to Cyberpunk, hopefully they will maintain the quality, or even take it further with the additional funding they now have available.

Good for CDPR, they deserve it. Their products have drastically improved with each one they release. Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be the real test though to see if they can keep it up. They certainly have the cash now to do so.

Other developers (esp. those leashed by a large publisher) should be taking notes. Doubtful though.....

EA lemming: "They didn't release eight different versions of the game? Where are their microtransactions?!?!"

DICE: "Just got done playing TW3. Now we're scrapping SW Battlefront and starting all over."

Bungie hipster: "Pay $40 to get more of the Destiny story and Mountain Dew skins for your Warlock."

Ubisoft slave: "It had longer than a 1-year development cycle? We have 5, aaa quality AC games coming out next month."

Bethesda: "Fallout 4. Hmm....what can we add to make it seem like we don't make the same game over and over? Ah ha! A dog companion. IGN will give us a 10/10 on that alone. Yassss."
