Delivering on those promises is another thing. And in it's current state, SC is FAR from what it is meant to be.1NMaPQK

The way op described this game it doesn't seem anything like Freelancer at all. At least to me. With that said I'm still interested in it as it does sound neat so thanks op!

The only thing really different is it's combat system. Otherwise it's essentially the same thing. Do bounties, do missions, space combat, arcade style gameplay.

Freelancer and Privateer II were the last two space games I enjoyed in this genre. Then I discovered EVE Online and played that for eight years till I burned out.

Good friend of mine was a developer there. He loved it until they struck some sort of deal with MS and knew where the company was headed and put his 2 weeks in then went on to work for Paradox Interactive.

He got me into that game and all I could do was dream and think about Eve. I had the companion app on my phone so when I got home I'd rush to the computer and check out what skills I wanted to do next and it was just an absolute blast.

There was a member here who got me into their corporation. Had a blast until the Alliance leader's brother started acting like a dick to everyone and had some cocky attitude and I started crap with him and shot his ship while he was near me (he pwned me bad lol) then my corp got pissed at him and started this huge internal war and ended up splitting apart the entire alliance lmao. thumb.gif

I purchased this game on Steam and so far I've put about 7 hours into it. It's pretty good and I can say I'm enjoying myself. The graphics are actually pretty decent and polished to only be a 2 gig down load. The sound effects/music is also good but be warned that is highly subjective in this game as I can see some people absolutely hating the music. Gameplay itself is very smooth/polished and I've had zero technical problems which is always a plus.

There are some negatives though. The game doesn't seem all that deep to me. Remember though I'm only 7 hours in so that could change. The UI is also very minimal. While a minimal UI is sweet for when you're just cruising around it can kind of suck a little in combat as half the time I really can't tell what all is around me. A better targeting system and ability to see info on each individual ship around would be nice. As it stands you have to move the camera around and actually be looking at a ship to get any info. My last negative isn't really a negative to some people (including myself) but is for others. The game straight screams console. It's not that in depth and frankly using m/kb is much more difficult then using a game pad. The devs even recommend using one. So yes if you purchase this do yourself a favor and just try it. I know many of us greatly prefer m/kb but for this game it's light years behind.

All in all I think it's worth a purchase. The game is only $20 ($18 right now if you grab it on sale this first week) and I feel like you get your moneys worth. I've honestly had a pretty good time with it. It's funny b/c you can pretty much do everything you can currently do in Elite Dangerous in this game, granted it's not full 3d movement. You can trade, mine, explore, do bounties and even level faction reps. The fact that this game was made by 2, count them, 2 people total really shows how poor Elite Dangerous is (sorry guys truth hurts).

Just got it on GoG for 17.99. Had to give it a try. Not a bad game at all. Its a good distraction from DAI and W3.

My only real complaints so far is it seems you get the same equipment at all the stations (in still in the first sector). Woulda been cool if you had to find where stuff was sold, but maybe it's like that later.
