Game acting weird today. Had to disable all overclocks to get it to run. Apparently there was a mini update today causing tons of problems.

God this sucks and is super frustrating.

ive got triple ASUS VG248QE in portrait mode, I mainly purchased these for the high refresh rate specifically, and I went with a configuration like this just to have a more immersive experience (I previously was using an LG ultrawide 29"). So I have to run a near 4k resolution, 3240x1920.

I can play Crysis 3 VERY comfortably, its just amazing to see. I have everything maxed out, and anti-aliasing set at FXAA and im getting literally 100+ FPS at all times, usually around 125 and maxing at near 200 at some points.... with 144hz being my priority, constant stream of 90+ FPS is very important to me.

But playing Doom4?? ugh..... I cant even use Vulkan, one monitor simply doesnt display anything when its enabled. Due to lack of SLI support, I cant even remotely touch maxed out settings, and even lowering all of them still barely even nets me a satisfactory frame rate.... im probably averaging 60FPS if im generous....

lame, especially coming a company like Id that prides itself on its tech and engines. I love this game so much, I really want to experience it the way I can experience Crysis 3(which I really dislike in terms of the actual game, I pretty much play it almost entirely for its visuals).

I really enjoyed Crysis 3 and not just for the graphics, I liked the story line and even the game play. Nothing like going into stealth mode and assassinating enemies with alerting any others. smile.gif

With the update before this one I was getting massive issues (SLI disabled) on Vulkan and OpenGL. I haven't revisited it since. I'm kinda hoping to see SLI support before an improved Vulkan driver for NVIDIA. I'll take 60 FPS minimums over the 50FPS minimums in heavy scenes redface.gif.

@Nichismo: We have pretty much the same system (Asus deluxe, SLI 980ti@1500mhz, 5930K, full loop acrylic WC). I can hold a steady 67fps in DOOM with in 4K, ultra settings with vsync enabled. FPS is quite a bit higher with vsync disabled. This tells me that you should have the horsepower to run your setup and that SLI support is there, at least with native 4K on a single monitor.

How are you specifying the custom 3240x1920 resolution? Did you modify some *.ini file? Does DOOM show 3240x1920 as an option with those monitors plugged in?

This is worth struggling with, because that game, at that resolution, at that framerate will be truly magnificent. Just on my 4K at 67fps I find myself laughing out loud!

I tested 4k running on a single 980 ti and it seemed to be above 60 fps for me, at least without vsync on.

Also SLI is not really working for this game, FPS has a higher max but its less consistent (and only in openGL). It's just FAFR2.

No way really?

Damn DooM scales well...

So I gave it a whirl with vsync off and the 980ti's @ 1500mhz. Standing still I was getting 95-100fps, but in very busy battles I saw numbers in the 40's.
When I run adaptive vsync, I stick very close to 65-67 fps with very few dips. I guess it makes sense that the cards would have more of a buffer with vsync enabled, and would stick closer to the refresh rate.

Nichismo, I am getting around 24.5K in 3DMark Firestrike, so if you are anywhere over that and are running a bit less than 4K, you might be able to get close to 90fps. Consider enabling adaptive vsync, and then making a custom refresh rate in the invidia control panel, playing around with the refresh Hz, to get something fast that keeps a stable FPS during heavy play. If you can get the game to see your third monitor, that is.
