[Official] Final Fantasy VII Remake Thread - Page 15

Indeed, too early to judge what it means. SE made a very vague announcement and fans are dissecting each word thoroughly. It may mean something or it may mean nothing at all.

I watched the trailer again and i just noticed Cloud looks so pale and maybe borderline sick lol.

I read an article few hours ago and developer confirmed episodic system. He says there is too much to do and cant fit in as a single project or something like that.

Posted this in the other thread but everyone is too busy fighting to notice most of their questions/thoughts are answered
Quote:
Here's some info/explanations on their reasoning for the splits;
Quote:
Quick stuff from interviews

-they made multi-release since they would have to cut stuff out if they made it in one game. The detail of the game will be so dense, and you will be able to go to various locations within Midgar that you couldn't go before.
-there will be some stuff that has to be cut, but there will be lots of stuff added. overall volume will be big
-They are working with various companies outside, including CC2
-The battle system is real-time, action feel. The degree of action will be "Dissidia > Kingdom Hearts> FF7 remake" It will be more tactical.
-Although it's action style, it has ATB as well.
-You can control other party members, but you can keep control one if you want
-3 party members at a time like the original

[...]

some stuff I didn't put in my first summary

-Character model is supervised by Visual Work's director.
-They don't want to go with 100% realism for the characters since it might make it hard to recognize certain characters. So they are going as real as possible, while keeping the character's personality.
-Advent Children model data is over 10 years old so they can't really use it.
-Everything from the trailer (excluding the stuff that was shown from E3 reveal) was real-time. The end scene where Cloud gets off the train, it transitions directly to the gameplay.
-Cloud looking sick is partly due to the lighting. Nojima likes that Cloud looks very sick.
-Cross-dressing is obviously in the game, but Nomura didn't design it yet.
-All the party member's design is renewed like Barret.
-At first they thought of going with AC design of Barret, but decided not to.
-ATB and Limit gauge is there but they are different from the original. ATB turning red is something important.
-Battle tempo will be similar to Dissidia. Battle is done by people who has experience in both Dissidia and Kingdom Hearts..

Here's some new (and cruicial imo) info too

Midgar is getting an unreal makeover.

Epic Games announced today that Square Enix is making the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake with Unreal Engine 4. This is a bit of surprise, as Square Enix often uses in-house engines for Final Fantasy, its premier franchise. The PlayStation 3’s Final Fantasy XIII used Crystal Tools, and the upcoming Final Fantasy XV employs Luminous Studios.

In-house engines like Crystal Tools and Luminous Studios are often expensive and difficult to make, while using licensed ones like Unreal Engine 4 can free developers of much of the grunt work that comes along with a homemade system. Unreal is the engine for in-development releases like Gears of War 4 and Street Fighter V. Other upcoming Square Enix games with Unreal Engine 4 include Dragon Quest XI and Kingdom Hearts III.
http://venturebeat.com/2015/12/07/final-fantasy-vii-remake-using-unreal-engine-4-instead-of-an-in-house-one/

This should definitely speed up the development process.

This makes it seem like a multi-title project, possibly due to the several FF7 released stories.

FF7 - Crisis Core
FF7
FF7 - Dirge of Cerberus
FF7 - Advent Children

Only journalists are using this term "episodic". Square Enix has never made an episode (read that as Telltale) title before nor has ever made a hint that it would in the near future. This goes against common sense, but it's entirely plausible. I will just maintain that it's too soon to tell, and that Square Enix themselves have not referred it to FF7 as episodic in nature.

I see that people are losing their minds everywhere over this.

Hm idk im not liking this necessarily but we will see, What i except is an exact replica but with modern graphics with as close to as the same style of play as the original as possible but with more modern 3D look, but with the same combat system, as well as updated items and abilities like balancing and whatnot, but thats what I expected. Walking around would be in full 3D and whatnot but they’d still try and keep the same kind of feel to it somehow.

But it might turn out that I'd like this better.

We will see sometime.
