AsRock Z97 Extreme9 and RAID on M.2 ports.

Hi everyone who uses AsRock Z97 Extreme9 Motherboard.

I want to buy this motherboard and 2 Samsung EVO 850 M.2 SSDs for RAID 0 so, i have some questions in my mind that i couldn't find a good answer yet on net.

1 - Is is possible to use only 2 M.2 ports ( M.2 (NGFF) and Ultra M.2 Gen3 x4) for RAID 0 ?

2 - If it is yes, than i can use RAID 0 with software or hardware RAID and is it possible to boot from this array?

3 - Lets say RAID 0 is not supported on these ports and i use these 2 SSD's on single mode and want to use a 4-way SLI or CF. Which PCI Explress slots will be affected fom these SSD's. I mean, is it possible to use all m.2 slots and PCIE 3.0 slots at the same time.

4 - And again, Let say we have 2 SSDs on both M.2 slots. Any of SATA 3.0 slots (6 Intel and 4 ASMedia ASM1061 onboard) will be off?

Sorry for my english and grammer. I hope you could understand me.

Thank you all who read or replied my topic...

I would say invest that money in 1 Samsung SM951, they will perform much better as theyre pcie vs the slower sata and will cost about the same as 2 SSDs

Oh sorry, let me rephrase.

If you RAID-0 2 120gb you will get 240gb

It would be better to get 1 256gb SM951 which will be almost twice as expensive but way quicker and safer (RAID0 isnt safe)

Also the 256gb SM951s version offers 2x the write performance over the 128gb SM951s

yea, if you go m2 you might aswell go NVMe and forget about the old SATA/AHCI standard.

So, what if i buy 2 SM951 256GB and RAID 0 them? 2.5GB/s Read and 2.5GB/s write speed (Becouse of limit of normal M.2 slot which is 10Gb/s = 1.25GB/s ) ?

U can RAID0 them and get double the speeds, im not sure what the max is you can RAID0 before you wont see a performance gain, but this article did it and it works fine.

EDIT: Since you have 2 m2 slots and RAID0 halves data you can have both SSDs writing/reading at full speed at the same time.

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v80), quality = 95
Does the ASRock Z97 Extreme 9 mb work ok with a Kingston HyperX Predator PCIe SSD or a Samsung 950 PRO -Series 512GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD.Just wondering if its getting the top speeds of these m2 ssd's or is top speed only available with a Z170 mb.
