Yeah. That was one of the bigger issue people had with Fiio's players. Others just complained about it not being "plug in and sync like an iPod". As for the Pono I would say it's overpriced but I put it out as an option because I didn't want to seem like I was promoting one brand or something.

Hope you got something that makes you and your ears happy. What headphones are you going to use?

Fiio vs Dreagonfly
http://headmania.org/2013/02/09/the-ambush-of-the-combinations-audioquest-dragonfly-vs-fiio-e17-dragonfly-with-burson-soloist-dragonfly-vs-conductors-dac/

Note that the Dragonfly has been updated to Versionb 1.2 with significant improvement in SQ.

For software, nothing I have found can beat JPlay.

It's just my opinion, but yes, its a whole other ball game.

The Dragonfly was designed by Gordon Rankin who probably knows more about USB DAC than anyone else in the galaxy
Here's his other DACS
http://www.usbdacs.com/Products/Products.html

Head-Fi
Pros:
“Great performance/price ratio; multifunctional; large number of audio input options”
“Elegant and compact design, solid build, plenty of features, tonally balanced and pleasant sound, great value for money”
Cons:
Not the best option for those wanting a pristine and highly-detailed sound; some crackling/distortion when using with Mac computers”
“Paint wears out quickly, Equalizer sounds a bit digital”

I'm confused, weren't we talking about flac players, not DACs?
