So does the 390x actually perform nearly as good as a 980ti in a full directx 12 game?

It sure does when DeLimited power limits on PCIe 3.0 ... since no one using a 980 Ti is on PCIe 2.0... haha You could see 10-20 extra fps on PCIe 3.0 motherboard.

By the way I can speed up the 270 as it could use a little bump up to 1,173Mhz core... not much difference but stable and worth it... Artifacts is usually video ram overheat or too little core voltage.

I see. Ok ty Btw I have an MSI R9 270 OC (not the 270x).

If you could stop the flashing textures/artifacts that would be nice lol. I might be able to open this one up as well since I bought the card in Jan/Feb 2015 and thats over two years ago so I think the warranty has run out but not sure. I applied thermal paste a few times on a CPU but tbh its the most fiddly job I have ever done in a computer, I would rather avoid opening the graphics card up to do something similar.

Btw what made you think that the memory VRMs were overheating on the 390x I have? 270bios.zip 97k .zip file

thumb.gifwink.gif Memory vrm need direct heatsink contact to transfer heat off the pcb to be cooled by the heatsink under load... If not eventually the vrm will lift off the PCB.. Printed Circuit Board and the entire card will be irreparably damaged from heat.

Slight TDP Reduction to R7 370 levels and overclock 1173Mhz... Maybe it'll work? Plus fan profile reduced from 101C to 67C.

Thanks again for this Chris.

Do I need to Uninstall drivers and DDU before every bios flash?

Your welcome and no you won't need to do all that extra stuff, just flash and restart. Let me know if it's working okay? =D

Hi Chris,

I'm afraid that bios didn't agree with my card. I ran heaven benchmark and all was going swimmingly until something went wrong and the screen went black and there was like straight horizontal lines across the screen. I think 1173MHz might be pushing it tbh based on the overclocking reviews for this card, its right on the edge according to the review I read.

I am going to flash the old bios back for now.

Cheers.

Hi, Computational Gurl 90 haha

Worth a shot... This one will work fine .. 1500mhz ram should work fine on 1000mhz core clock.. cooler running too... wink.gif

Cheers mate biggrin.gif
