Well temps are much better now about 10C cooler! Barely touched 70C with a decent OC. I could perhaps reapply a different paste if that will make any difference? But it has worked fine for my CPU.
Sorry I should have took some pics of the whole debacle but it was in the heat of the moment (zing!) rolleyes.gif

thumb.gif Nice now that sounds about right, curious tho what is your VRM temp with a mild oc and gaming awhile?

So I got an XboxOne/Windows controller (pretty sweet) today and loaded up Witcher 3. A bit hotter in my room and with a decent OC on temps were nearing 80C. This just didn't seem right. So I went ahead and voided my warranty (stupid sticker screws!) and I'm glad I did. What I saw was shocking. I think the thermo5000 dab-o-matic at the factory was running haywire that day, because the paste was an absolute gobbed on mess. There was so much it came out the side of the chip/heatsink interface and congealed on the side. Cleaned everything off and applied a dab of some cooler master paste leftover from installing my CPU.

Wait so you did this to your 390? I thought those temps sounded kinda high in your previous posts here. Although you got me worried now since we have the same card. My temps are fine ATM but it will drive my OCD into over gear thinking about the mess of thermal paste possibly in my card. I have some MX4 & Cooler Master paste laying around also have some of the cleaning & condition products from AS left over... Think I'll just have to keep an eye on my temps & if they start creeping up as time passes I'll do the same you did.thumb.gif

I may end up getting a 390 Nitro on an RMA and am interested in its cooling performance vs the Vaporx.

From what I've seen the vrms are a bit warmer for the Nitro. At 50% speed speed, how hot does the core and vrms get on a bench run of Heaven 1080p maxed?

My OC's seem stable, just got the card today.
1150/1725 w/ 50% PL and +75mV.

Gonna lower my clocks, VRM1 is climbing 110 apparently...
Or are the VRM rated for 110+ on XFX DD 390?

if it reach 110 celcius the cooling is off.

I figured this would be a good place to find a few guys with a 390 to take part in a little experiment a guy is doing in a Google+ group. Details in the link. Would like to see some really strong 390 scores.

110 seems insanely high. Something is definitely wrong, especially given the relatively safe voltage of 50mv... I would say make sure your cooler is mounted correctly, optimise your case airflow etc.

What are your ambients like?

Right now it's 45~/45~/50~

Dropped to 40~ all across the board currently while doing nothing.

Err, context? What do you mean?

Do a bench run of Heaven 1080p max at stock settings and report your core/vrm results. And include your ambient temps too.
