[Official] AMD R9 390/390X Owners Club - Page 287

Hi guys, i just got my brand new MSI 390x yesterday but I have a few questions. First, does it show up in your device manager as R9 390 series rather than mentioning 390x? I figure this is normal behavior but I wanted to check.

Second, I don't know about on your machines but I am running one DVI and one displayport but the screens mirror each other on the bios screens until the desktop loads. I know this isn't a big deal but also wondering if it's normal behavior.

Third, I wasn't able to catch it on video but when loading up the blue Welcome screen for Windows, the desktop, or the blue shutting down screen, it loads strangely. Rather than an instant load of the whole page, it seems like it's loading from the bottom up and I can very briefly see tearing on the screen. This does not sound normal. Is it?

Lastly, I have not tried to OC or anything because I wanted to see that I could game at normal settings before messing with anything. I've only had time to play one game, Heroes of the Storm, but I experienced some weird artifacting. Here's a link to a video of the issue: https://youtu.be/NfWeI7p8Hds

It seems like it's isolated to that one section as you can see that it only happens on the arch with the anubis but not on the other walls, floor, or on the gold pieces.

I have no idea what could be causing the artifacts or the screen tearing. Anyone have any idea?

Yes it's normal for it to be called "390series".

From what I've seen the vrms are a bit warmer for the Nitro. At 50% speed speed, how hot does the core and vrms get on a bench run of Heaven 1080p maxed?

Anyone? smile.gif

It's the best cooler there is, well beside vapor-x. But the difference is rly small.

Any idea whats going on in here? Tried reinstalling Valley and it changed nothing. Also, Heaven shows zero degrees all times.

That's what I gather, but from what I've read here the VRMs sometimes get fairly hot. My Vapor X keeps my VRMs in the 60s with ease even at high voltages.

I rly don't think so. My 290 is Tri-X, which is like previous version of Nitro cooler, and VRM's are well under control. I don't think new version is worse...
