Guys, isn't anyone else getting more crashes with 15.10 compared to 15.9.1? Overclocks that were rock stable previously (Mainly memory overclocks) crash now. It's not even funny. I'm running my memory at 1650MHz at the same aux voltage I used to run 1675MHz and it just crashed on me while playing a little Witcher 3. I wanted to punch my screen. ****...

On a side note, holy crap is that game killing the GPU. Even with Hairworks disabled (It looks so cool with it enabled, but it does slash 10-15FPS from my framerate, so...) it barely manages 50-55FPS with everything maxed. I mean, Inquisition is hard to run too, but this is on another level. Any advice on what I may be able to do to have it run better? Also, what's up with AA not being configurable? It's just a tickbox to turn it on or off. And sharpening looks like crap, or is it just me?

So many questions... I may sound annoying. tongue.gif

Question: Is the card acting normal?

MSI R9 390

While playing Sniper Elite III on 1080p with all details maxed the gpu load goes up and down in a non-random fashion. The core clock also fluctuates a bit but not that much. After I ALT+TAB to win the clocks went back to the stock 1060 that I was using for gaming at that time. Power Limit is at +50.

I don't notice anything special while gaming. The game runs smoothly at 60fps with some odd drops to 40 now and then, but nothing constant or anything that would correlate with the GPU load jumping.

I run the game on DX11. Need to check if this happends with Mantle too...

Everything is maxed out, so yeah, probably. I'll check it out, thanks! smile.gif

Are you using Vsync? If yes, and I'm guessing you are, that's normal. If your GPU can push 100FPS at a given time in that game and you force it to do 60, it's not going to sit at 100% GPU usage. So it will lower the clock to save power. Don't worry about it. If you disable Vsync, you'll watch your clockspeed being a near constant 1060MHz.

Damn I feel stupid. I completely forgot about that. Yeah I have vsync on.

Thanks!

I have got up to about +10% clock speed but cant find a similar sweet spot like i did at +4 and +6% clock speed.

This is on stock fans, etc.

Why would you stick to +4% power limit? If you're doing any sort of overclocking, just crank it to +50%. It's perhaps the only setting that has no chance of damaging your card in the long run. It just allows you to use all the settings that require that extra power and you'll need it to be stable at higher clocks.

Just got my MSI 390 last week, and doing the first night of usage, i had the fans hitting 60% doing gaming.

Yet yesterday i noticed the fans not doing quite the same today? it runs alot cooler then it did just a few days ago, anyone have any idea on what could cause this?

Cooler temps? tongue.gif Did you modify the fan curve? Check temps in GPUz while gaming.

Cooler ambient temps would do that, I had a similar situation. Since there is the cooler winter temps, I opened my windows and my CPU was sitting at 38C and my 390 was at 65C under gaming load while playing planetside 2. Needless to say I was using my computer to blow warm air on me and I was wearing a sweater
