Upgraded from a Strix 960 (now donated to a friend). Absolutely loving the performance of the card, but a little wary of the temps. 66 on idle, 90 at max load, max settings, 2x AA in Valley Benchmark, 85 in MGS V max settings. I took the card apart and replaced the thermal compound with my own which brought down the idle temps a few degrees, but still hit 90 in Valley. Really wish I could put this bad boy under water =/

Anyone know of any solutions? From what I've read, ASUS doesn't use a reference board so no full waterblocks are compatible, and an NZXT G10 leaves the VRMs to fend for themselves.

I've been doing a little research on this lately, you can buy small heat sinks that simply stick into the vrms with thermal adhesive tape (which usually come pre-applied). This will allow the g10s fan to actively cool the vrm a lot more effectively.

But seriously, it looks like you are correct, but my games were all breaking 30fps per fraps and i got no tearing.... Could it be because the tv itself has hardware to reduce motioon blur and tearing issues?

Hmm interesting fact. I am not sure, but I always thought a 30Hz or 60Hz is roughly equivalent to 30fps or 60 fps (plus/minus something) on that screen. Perhaps someone here in the forum could shed some light into this?! wave2.gif

So you are saying you recorded higher FPS than 30 via FRAPS or RivaTuner (or whichever software you are using) allthough the screen should only be getting 30Hz due to the adapter?
What jumps to my mind, but this is just a reeeeaaalllly wild guess, maybe fraps/Rivatuner only record the fps that the card produces but not the fps that actually get shown on the TV? So let's say you card send 50 FPS to the Screen, only but due to the adapter only 30 raeach the screen, then the screen adjusts with its hardware the images and you see a smooth 30 fps but your fraps/rivatuner counts 50 fps the whole time??? could that be it?

OR, it is way simpler. the 3840x2160 @ 30Hz is only a stated minimum from the Hardware Manufacturer and in some cases the cables can do more than 30Hz doh.gif

Probably the second option biggrin.gif

Yep, and I was getting really good results, however it looks like I was still visually capped at 30FPS, which I admittidly didn't notice, except for some occasional tearing, which I had chocked up to the frames that were breaking 60FPS....
