I have a airflow oriented case, and I can't say my R9 390 is noisy. I can notice the fans when they are at ~80% and that happens very rarely.

I know R9 390 is not 390X but both of these cards have been described as "noisy" while other users say they are very quiet. So go figure smile.gif

I've owned dozens of Hawaii cards, I was just shocked that one with a gigantic aftermarket cooler and full custom PCB could be as loud as a pair of 290X reference cards in crossfire. The temps aren't bad and the fan RPM isn't very high either so I guess the fans are just noisy as all hell which is slightly disappointing. I was debating on this or the XFX and I think the XFX would have been the better choice now.

but at this point it is still vaporware.

The tech to do this exist, but it has been over a year now and nothing has been released.

I have been digging, and digging, and apparently, when it comes to getting 60FPS on my practically new 4K TV..... I AM SCREWED WITH AMD!!!

There are NO DP to HDMI 2.0 converters on the market..... I am almost sure of it at this point.

If anyone finds one that is verified for sure as DP1.4 -> HDMI 2.0 (4k60), please advise and I will create a special section just for you on the OP!!! biggrin.gif

If I don't find something by Friday.... I am sadly leaving the club and going from my original choice of (2x MSI 390), to a single GTX 980Ti....

This really grinds my gears mad.gif

A single 980 Ti won't push 4k/60, so it looks like a catch 22 for you either way. tongue.gif

Chasing that 4k dream is a struggle.. Don't 980's have HDMI 2.0? Maybe going SLI with those would be the best option?

Honestly, I gamed at 4K on a single 390 using high/very high custom settings, with AWESOME results considering it was one card... I was in the 45-75 FPS range for Crysis 3 and BF4 at true 4096x2160 resolution (I'll dig my results post up if I can find it) Mind you that was with clocks at 1200/1700 24/7!

So, two 390's will handle max quality 4K gaming for the most part, but that's only because they carry 8GB of VRAM!!

The 980 with it's 4GB will do okay in 80% of games, but there will be times when it chokes on VRAM, so the 980Ti seemed most logical with it's "close-to-a-295x2" performance, and it's 6GB frame buffer.....

I will see what the ETA is on the little adapter that CLub 3d has, and go from there..... but don't be surprised if I start posting 980Ti benchies for you guys in the next few weeks tongue.gif

That stinks about no hdmi 2.0., hopefully you can find an adapter because if I do upgrade my monitor it will most likely be a 4k TV + xfire MSI's. Please do keep us updated on this!

As for fan speed mine is rather quiet but the fans never get more than around low 60%. I don't think XFX fans are any quieter.

Haha I did a quick search on that stuff after reading your post, as this does interest me a little bit as my parents just bought a no name 4k TV, I am not even sure that it has HDMI 2.0, so it is currently @ 30Hz.

Anyways looking at the other tweets, they are saying that they want to release the adapter before Xmas. So not quite by Friday wink.gif

Heres the tweet:

This was at a heavy overclock of 1232/1641mhz with 200mv pumping through biggrin.gif

Dead on with a 390x clocked the same..... However, since 390's will not break 1200mhz on core, the 390 has to have the memory clocked in the 1780+ to compete, if it even cane.

Im testing a 390 atm that breaks 1200 core speed, even benched it at 1250/1500 last night actually.

Could you please test something for me? When you get the time, see if increasing memory clocks affects core stability. It keeps nagging me but I don't have enough time these days to test it out myself thoroughly. You could test like 1250/1650MHz or something like that. I'm curious to see what you'll come up with. smile.gif
