This is nonsense. 620 watts is perfect for an Intel + 390(x) build.

This man is correct, zero reason to go overkill 750W for any single GPU setup.

A good 600W should work more than fine for any single GPU setup.

Heck, I ran Crossfire HD7950 with 620W Antec crap and 5GHz 2500K without any issues.

Hi im happy to be part of the 390x owners group i have the MSI gaming 8G version. Had the card a few weeks now and im just starting to push its overclock.

I am 100% stable in all games at 1100/1650 at stock voltages, anymore and i get issues so looks like im going to start on the voltage sliders next.

Also any ideas why I still keep showing in 3d mark/firestrike as a 290? its not a major concern its just annoying when im doing comparisons i get the poor peoples version this card, lol. biggrin.gif

Is my PSU ok for this card or do i need to get another one asap ?

My rig :
I5 2500k stock
1xSATA HDD
2x4 GB RAM
PSU : Seasonic S12II-620 Bronze 620W

To give you an idea

I'm running a FX8350 + R9 390X + 2 sticks of 8GB + complete xspc water cooling on a Crosshair v formula -Z mobo + 4x12cm 3x14cm 3x20cm fans + fancontroller and bunch of lights.
all on an old corsair 650w HX psu. and it runs fine stock as well as overclocked to 5.0Ghz cpu and 1200/1600gpu.

so dont worry smile.gif the proposed 750w is somewhat overrated.

I just tend to stick to what the manufacturer recommends. And I guess I like overkill lol

My 390X will do higher than 1160/1610 with only power adjustments....but after lots of testing 1160/1610 gives best scores and it automagically sets voltage as high as 1.242 peak without me touching it. thinking.gif

I'm not a pro at overclocking but i just installed a watercooler for my fx8350 and amd overdrive went from 4.3 previously to 6.2 after water. Here's my heaven benchmark photo that I took with my phone. Can you guys confirm that my cpu speed is 6ghz? I'm not sure if that's what it means cause other forums are saying that it's basically impossible to get 6 on this cpu. Also the 390 is oc'd just over 1100/6000 without major voltage since I'm still learning. Lol
Edit for another question. Are there any disadvantages to putting the 390 fans at 100%? I don't mind noise since I have headphones on mostly. I set them at 100 yesterday and the temp difference was more than 20c. Usually maxes at 70c but with fans up all the way was maxing just under 50c. Thanks again guys.

Yeah that 6.2 ghz is most likely impossible download HWinfo64 to monitor your system
Running fans at 100% will just burn them out quicker but gpu runs cooler as you noticed its entirely up to you what you prefer
